Drinking and Posting
by wanderlustguy incertainly, in these end times, we may encounter individuals who do not heed the counsel found at 1st wlg, 3:13. yes, that is correct, as apalling as it sounds...they do the unthinkable.
they drunk post.. many of us have been tempted, nay, stumbled into the sin of drunk posting.
but there are those among us who have traveled the dark path, and from them we learn what not to do.

Getting the forum back on track
by Simon inrecently we seem to have had a few different dramas and subsequent fallout on the fourm which i feel has detracted from its purpose.
with this in mind we have decided that we need to bring the forum back on track and as such we will be clamping down on a lot of the aggressive / insulting posts which have begun to become the norm for a few people.
we will also be clamping down on the paranoid assusation type of comments against newbies, if someone joins the fourm and you do not believe everything they post - so what, why do we need to hound them away with shouts of troll and fake etc, just ignore them if you dont beleive them.

How is JWD doing ?
by Simon insomeone came out with the tired old claim that the site is dying, there is a mas exodus, yada yada yada.
some people would really love for that to happen, i know .... we have gone down a few places on bigboards simply because some new sites were added to it that have more posts - the sites we are ranked alongside all went down by the same amount at the same time and we've gone up against some and down against others (not that sheer post numbers matter that much).
also, a combination of optimising page caching and alexa changing how they rank things has reduced the ranking on that too ... but how are we really doing?.

The big-boards graphs are very bad.
And poor Carl!

Hey Simon, do you have any graphs as an update to this in 2008?

How many JWs do you know that have "Failure to Launch" Syndrome
by BBOARD intired of the hypocrisy's post got me thinking ... how many jw "kids" over the age when they should have left home still live with their parents.
i say this because i have many of those in my congregation.
fyi it looks real bad to be a older man (ie 25 and up) scrub laying up at home unless you have a outstanding circumstance i.e.

Its been almost 4 years since Ive been here.WOW
by Denny inbeen lurking the whole time.without going into a long story, mylife has changed so much.. im the father of 4 raised in the troof.from 3 on.always had problems dealing with the pledge, sports and girls.got reccomended bad assoc a few times when young.redeemed myself at 16.time to dunk.well after i did,i went crazy worldly.i was a senior in school shortly after.i went through running away at 17.being a wild child but always having guilt.passed up on sex with i dont know how many women because i still held some things true.
(they were some pretty hot girls too)to the point of getting into pot and acid in the early 80s.
(i didnt seem to mind that) through the years id always believed it was the truth.there were times i would throw my pot out the window of my car and cry, because i could never live up to a jw life.married my wife.never had a christmas tree(even though she gave presents)ps so did i.in and out of the org.never felt like i mattered.anyway i owe my life to my wife who did research and brought me here.. my old screen name was life.i quit trying to read and post all the time because i was so messed up after finding out the truth about what i was really involved in and what the facts were.

Ahhh, it all makes sense now...
by Mickey mouse in...things keep coming to me about why the wbts teaches certain things and it all becomes clear when you see it for what it is - a cult.. for instance, why do they counsel so strongly against hypnotism?
is it really because they suspect demonism is involved or more likely that it may disrupt all that careful programming and mind control of theirs?
what things have suddenly become clear to you?.

What things have suddenly become clear to you?
That IT IS a cult.
I struggled to say those words for a long time.
How could I have been in a cult? Logical and rational me? Moi? Non!
How could my wonderful family be in a cult? How could my beloved mother be blinded by a cult?
But now it's clear to me. The Jehovah's Witness organization is a cult. It's simple and clear now.

It's tough letting go
by B_Deserter inyou know, we all like to talk about how awful the congregations we attended were, but at the end of the day, most of us are here because we need support letting go of our friends and family.
personally, i had and still do have occasionally (because i haven't faded yet) great times with some of my friends.
yeah, it's all based on our religion and they wouldn't be my friends if i didn't believe it.

Be true to yourself, before anything else.
Maybe your JW friends feel the same way, and you just don't know it.
Be true to yourself and you WILL find other good friends to socialise with, go fishing with, have fun with.
Maybe even better friends, unconditional friends, friends with whom you don't need to be a part of a religion in order to be accepted.
This is your one life to live.

Abstain from Blood...
by hotchocolate inmy first post was a few days ago now, and finally my heart has stopped pounding whenever i log on.. :-).
so, i have been in the truth all my life, 3rd generation witness, never left, never been in trouble, pioneered for years, and am a respected member of my congregation.
at the moment.

The bottom line is that the whole blood issue pivots on the Old Testament (sorry, the Hebrew Scriptures).
If we were to adhere to these ancient Jewish writings, which Jesus clearly said he was replacing, then we:
1. Would not eat bacon and pork products today
2. Would be publicly stoning sinners today
3. Would be making animal sacrifices
... and so on.

Public Talks- What do you think about the changes?
by Connaughty inwhat do you think about the reduced time of the public talks?.
i actually find it pleasant, it makes it a lot easier to tolerate some of the boring speakers.
but what about the service.

There is no time for additional info, experiences, illustrations, etc. It is just another step in controlling what is said during the meetings.
Spot on, lrkr.
