I & my brother went with our long time friend whose mother (JW) had died. Our friend's 6 daughters were not in JWdom except in their very young years.. they all cried & were angry that their grandmother was hardly mentioned! What an un-Christian, unloving event!

How many JWs are still waiting to have children in the "new system"?
by truthsearcher in*** g74 11/8 11 is this the time to have children?
significantly, in the first century jesus christ himself gave an ominous forecast regarding a calamity coming upon judea.
that the armies of roman general cestius gallus encamped around jerusalem, but then withdrew, apparently without any reason for doing so.

When I was in Bethel in the early 70's, a married missionary was temporarily there, working with us ironing, etc in the laundry,,she sang a song to a popular melody with words "when your nervous in the service, have a baby,,have a baby". Well, that was the only "honorable" way to leave full-time service then, making an innuendo that having a child was a cop out. In reality it takes all the courage in the world to have a child and should bring in a reality to life and is much more fulfilling than any fulltime service in WT world. Thankfully, I became a mom and now am a proud grandma!

My take on Knocking (and PBS Mormon special)
by Dogpatch inmy take on knocking obviously a "puff piece" as danny haszard would say.
no one could really accept this as a real documentary in my opinion, it is just too biased in their favor.
where is the dissent?

My husband (never a JW) made me have a glass of wine before watching "Knocking", he was afraid I'd get really "*%#*" off! The film is pro-JW, the stories presented are so "and they lived happily ever after". Of course, poor Seth would have been shunned by his family and congregation if he took blood. As for Mr. Kempler (tho I have total, absolute sympathy of Jews living in Hitler's time), how could he have later boasted thereafter that he found God (via JWs) and then didn't early on, long ago feel compelled soon after to see/feel his God-given responsibility to have a basic close relationship with own Jewish daughter all those years (she & her husband obviously, rightfully had resentment). Gene's comments are so cold & rote (typical 'same-o-same-o', parrot comments for decades, brrrrrrrr!) I appreciate Randy's and Danny's zeal/passion for exposure of the WTS. With this "Knocking" documentary, hopefully people will internet search Randy's and Danny's sites and get the "rest of the story". I hope you get a lot of responses, Randy, Danny and others. At least hopefully it will create more exposure of JWs negative lives.

Thank you very much for your report! I bought & saw the DVD. I still have mixed thoughts/emotions. Interesting perception there of the audience. I am still apprehensive about the two stories, ending happily ever after concept tho. Yet, most people know little if anything about JWs other than coming to their doors so this exposure may be good and some people hopefully will go on to the Internet and read the "rest of the story."

"Follow the Christ " conventions...is it me?
by Gordy inlooking at the convention invitation,.
does anyone get the feeling this is a ploy by the wt to project themselves as "christian".
the way it is worded gives the image that they are "christ centred".

I was so concerned about the "Knocking" documentary when I first learned of it,,I bought the DVD,,and still have mixed thoughts/emotions. My husband (never a JW) said he would request me to have a glass of wine before I watched because he was afraid I'd really get "****" off. It is definitely pro-JW. But I have decided since most people don't know anything about JWs, some exposure/awareness would good through the "Knocking" film. However, it will be up to us to see how we can get the "full" story out!! Like another followup on "Knocking their Members Around!"

Strange announcement about "donations" at the S.A.D.
by Doubting Bro inat a recent s.a.d.
i attended, something caught my attention during the accounts report about how to make donations by check.
in the past, they have always instructed persons who want to donate by check to make that check payable to watchtower (if i recall, they even told you to capitalize the t).

How far have you come?
by done4good inthe recent thread on veterans made me think of this.
for me, i can now say i am proudly patriotic, hell, i even think being "proud" is a good thing.
these are things that would have seen reprehensible to me as a witness, and even a short while after i left.

I vote (independent - can't join a party), give blood regularly, play Powerball regularly , rarely gone to casinos(don't like it that much) - , do birthdays ( my kids gave me the best birthday when I turned 60 this year - had a 1920's theme,,we all dressed for it to the hilt and did "swing" dancing), I do all the holidays to some degree, watch many "R" movies with no guilt for sure, pledge of allegiance, stand & sing to patriotic songs, one of my sons went in the Marines for 4 yrs so I support our boys/men in the military. I raised 5 kids, free of WT. I was in JWs for almost 30 yrs (pioneered 5 yrs, Bethel 5 yrs) but I have truly moved on and I am proud to be proud!
