So I understand either party can petition w/i 10 days. California Supreme Court has 60 days to accept or not. California Supreme Court only accepts less than 5% of petition requests.

“We are not done yet!” – Candace Conti reacts to appeal court decision
by Watchtower-Free inhttp://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/we-are-not-done-yet-candace-reacts-to-appeal-court-decision.
candace conti (pictured in her interview with abc) has spoken out for the first time about the appeal court decision.
as current and former jehovahs witnesses digest the news that watchtowers appeal against the candace conti verdict has faltered, albeit with the punitive element of the judgment reversed, candace has reacted for the first time by telling me: we are not done yet.. news spread on monday that the state appeals court in san francisco had upheld the $2.8 million compensatory damages in the original june 2012 verdict, but overturned the $8.6 million punitive award against watchtower.. the court decided that, though watchtower had neglected its responsibility to supervise known pedophile jonathan kendrick in field ministry, a church-sponsored activity, the organization had no duty to warn parents in the congregation that a pedophile was in their midst or report him to authorities.. an insightful report by investigative reporter trey bundy has suggested that the court reached its decision because the precedent set by the conti verdict might be too burdensome to enforce.. the burden would be considerable because the precedent could require a church to intervene whenever it has reason to believe that a congregation member is capable of doing harm, and the scope of that duty could not be limited with any precision, the judges wrote.. candaces attorney rick simons responded by pointedly telling bundy: they think in public policy terms that theres too much risk in broadening the churchs responsibility and liability so that it burdens what churches do.

Read on Watchtower Documents how discarding types-antitypes impacts the very core doctrine of the “faithful and discreet slave” itself!
by AndersonsInfo inin the july 15, 1909 watch tower, c. t. russell said, we are loath to give any explanation of types not directly or indirectly referred to in the new testament.
" yet, during the next approximately 100-years, the organization russell founded didn't follow his footsteps but did the opposite until the march 15, 2015 watchtower magazine stated "no more.

Guatemalan schools request publications from Jehovah's Witnesses

guatemala city - as crime rises exponentially in guatemala, three schools have requested publications from jehovah's witnesses in an effort to curb youth crime in the country.

an official document from the Official Rural Coeducational Elementary School in Paraje Xepec, Professor Maria Cortez stated that the publications were requested “to rescue the values and moral principles that are much needed in society.”
Should we write letters to Professor Maria and provide facts about JW tactics for children, fear tactic/threats of destruction by their god and shunning from their families. JWisms cannot cure nor help their Guatemalan youth.

Guatemalan schools request publications from Jehovah's Witnesses
By Kevin Jess 21 hours ago in WorldGuatemala City - As crime rises exponentially in Guatemala, three schools have requested publications from Jehovah's Witnesses in an effort to curb youth crime in the country.Guatemalan children live a life much different than children in the U.S. and Canada, facing trauma similar to children who live in countries rife with conflict. According to Al Jazeera, the country has one of the highest child homicide rates in the world with a murder rate 800 percent higher than the United States. According to JW.org, the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses, the schools contacted the organization since they are one of the few publishers of content in Quiché, an American Indian language spoken in the western highlands of the country. Also, an official document from the Official Rural Coeducational Elementary School in Paraje Xepec, Professor Maria Cortez stated that the publications were requested “to rescue the values and moral principles that are much needed in society.” The publications requested were My Book of Bible Stories in Quiché as well as Volume 1 and 2 of Questions Young People Ask-Answers that Work in Spanish. Approximately 3,500 copies were donated and parents were also given their own copies to enable them to help their children with assignments. The Official Rural Coeducational Elementary School has also added the video The Prodigal Returns to the school curriculum. Almost half of Guatemalans are Roman Catholic with about 25 to 40 percent of the population being Protestant. There are a little over 37,000 Jehovah's Witnesses in Guatemala in 775 congregations.

Lett referred to his GB partners and/or others being too ""shy"" to talk to the members about this "money" problem. (A big laugh for this morning!)
That is so ironic, when the GB constantly preach for everyone to be 'bold,' to everyone. To the governments, for the small children to be bold at school to defend themselves, to the medical world to defend them about the crazy blood doctrine.
I would say they are ashamed or embarrassed, but the GB and their helpers are too arrogant for those emotions. Where did I read the WT admission, on this site I think, that there was differences of opinion one evening on for hours, about their decision about their new 'Last Days Construction' project mission?
Well, 'money' issues can cause major 'dissention' in all realms: marriages, businesses, governments, and religion. Money is the primary May issue and seems will dominate in the future.

Anti-JW billboard going up in Texas
by sunny23 inthe first ever billboard has been crowd funded on reddit and will be going up.
i'm curious to know if it will cause a spark in any jw's who already have questions or doubts and lead them to research into the child abuse cases and lead them to the thought that the wt and gb are not inspired or gods mouthpiece.
at the very least it will provide people a topic of conversation and questions to the jw's who knock on their door: "so whats this whole sex abuse in kingdom halls thing about i saw on the billboard down the road?

wow,, we stayed on a ship in '58 during the assembly. We traveled across U.S. from California, hot with no air conditioning back then. Back then, I think we had huge bumper sticker for car to advertise the conventions. Had no confirmation of a motel. Got in NY,, sat for a long time (seemed long for me, for me only being 11 yrs old with 3 younger siblings, ages 9, 4 and 2, with our parents) waiting. The WT got an okay for many of us waiting to stay on a ship, docked during the week. Our room was 4 bunkbeds w/sink, certainly not anything upscale . A huge sharing bathroom with individual compartments for toilet and shower. All the travelers from the ship from Europe had rooming on land. My brother and I loved discovering the wonderment of the ship, of course.
I need to find out more. But the trip was hard for my mom I remember. The heat in NY city then was miserable. The first day on the ship didn't have the air flow on yet for the bunkers. The 2-year old not potty trained yet.

Anyone see "Woman in Gold" yet? Base on real story and legal case (admittedly was a confusing for me as it involved Austria also). Interesting movie. Lost in lower court but later at her lawyer's persistence went on to win at U.S. Federal Supreme Court. Took 10 years. Different issue and process than Conti case, of course. What struck me how a judge (in the movie, not sure if the statement is in court record) made a comment that Maria Altmann case would "open a can worms" involving many nations with similar atrocities.
Made me think of this last court case of Ms. Conti. Hopefully, the California Supreme Court will take the case. Maybe it's just time now for religion to be tested and judged not because of the 'government' entity but because of the conscience of the "people."
