his attorneys are also trying to have the case dismissed on the technicality that the two sisters may have waited too long to file a legal complaint. If they waited longer than six years past their 18th birthday, they may not be able to seek legal relief.

Horrible if this get dismissed on the 'technicality.' I wonder, shouldn't the ages of the two sisters have been established & documented already by the attorney of the two sisters right from the start because of this age/timing issue? Looks like the girls can not be over 24 years old now then? Zalkin shows to be involved in this case. He has been so successful in other "pedophile" cases.

What I Saw & Heard in the Oral Argument Hearing on January 14, 2015

im not an attorney and i could not record the hearing, so please forgive me if i make mistakes in relating what i remember of the oral argument hearing for jane doe (i.e., candace conti) versus the watchtower bible & tract society on january 14, 2015 and the length of this post.. i arrived at the civic center/union plaza in san francisco, ca about 7:30. the area is very nice with a few homeless people sleeping in the park across from the courthouse.

it took me about 10 minutes to find the clerks office for the court on the first floor, which opened at 8:00.. once the clerks office opened, the two clerks who i talked with were very polite and helpful.

the arguments for jane doe (i.e., candace conti) versus the watchtower bible & tract society were scheduled 5th out of (i think) 8. while i was in the office a cameraman and another person for nbc arrived asking about the hearing for candace contis case.. the courtroom for the 1st appellate court is on the 4th floor and takes up most of that floor.

I understand that a "decision" may generally be done within 90 days after oral arguments submitted.

Of course, there could be exception. So, maybe within a couple weeks?? Then, petitions can happen within 30 days. Site shows California Supreme Court, grants only 4 to 5 percent of cases petition for review.

i'm sure many of us have seen the local design construction video for elders that was leaked on youtube.

i saw a few seconds of it and was going to the library to download it, but at that point it was taken offline.

now, a heavily edited version is on jw broadcasting.

Every time I see "LDC," I automatically interpret "Last Days Construction" work. Such a contradiction in itself. I get a comedy visual of first century Christians busy, busy building new assembly buildings in Jerusalem. Hah!

JW Son dead in German plane crash, no big deal!

seems to be a jw connection with the crash after all, but it wasn't the co-pilot as some had surmised.

the father of the only american male killed in the crash weighs in with a very mild assessment of the mass murderer, and doesn't seem overly concerned about his son, now deceased.. ---------------------------------------------------------------- .

wonder if son (step-son?) was "active" JW? There have been JWs, who felt somewhat relieved if their inactive or DF'd grown child with a flipped hope that now their grown child would probably now be resurrected and not destroyed at Armageddon.

yes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.

i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.

the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

Thank you, Simon! I've been out 30 yrs but like to get the updated factual news here about jw.org. to hear how the org is changing some things is only reinforcing their desperation. They clearly only make distractions as their 'end of world' only weakens. Therefore I enjoy watching from this distance.

Lifeistoshort, go tell that elders wife that GB Lett said in a DC talk in Florida about four years ago that when he was at bethel he didn't believe in 1975 but all the others their did and he was viewed as the apostate, confirming to me that they did indeed think 1975 was a big deal.

I call Lett out as a "liar" on that. I was there. If he was viewed as an apostate then, he would have been kicked out on it. Now if he whispered that to someone he knew personally I wouldn't know. But no one talked that way at Bethel then during morning text or family WT night I can assure you. Lett then was a nobody at Bethel - book study conductor only. He did not hobnob with the Knorr group at all. He was a partaker then and even there for someone only in early 20s partaking was considered somewhat odd and questionable.

i have had virtually no contact with any witnesses beside my mother for the past few years.

she watches tv constantly and claims she has never seen anything on the watchtower abuse cases.

can anyone confirm they seem to be having disagreement writing dept and service dept some feel that df ok as long as you do not add wholesale across the board shunning regardless of the sin ..

Fortunately too, for the Internet. Any "inquiring" minds, not JWs, could go online and see through several ex-JW sites this big issue of "disfellowshipping" and understand how horrible this is to families. This is a big interest stopper to any possibly thinking about studying with JWs. Thus, less adult baptisms!
