I don't think Ron Paul is a big government guy, but I do think he is very libertarian on most issues.

How dare you make fun of homeschooling! As piss poor as our public educational system is in this country being controlled by the teachers unions, I don't blame parents one bit for opting out of the public system and for home schooling their kids. BTW, there is nothing in the constitution of the US that makes provision for publicly financed education.

Is the WT banning vasectomies?
by B_Deserter ini talked to a dub friend of mine who said they had a new "it's a personal choice, but jehovah will kill you if you do it" article about vasectomies.
basically, the reasoning is supposedly that since jehovah gave us our reproductive organs, tampering with them is wrong if not medically necessary.

I dont think this is a major issue in the org. I think they have much bigger fish to fry than this...

The 70 years of devastation--as revealed by the Bible
by AddaGirl inwatchtower teachings say this period is from 607 bce to 537 bce.
most of the documentation relating to the seventy years indicates that period to be 609 bce to 539 bce, the rule of the babylonian empire.
i wrote to headquarters, because as a bible study student i knew i could ask questions about certain doctrines that those baptized cannot without consequence and some of the information i received from them was very helpful especially when it was used to verify the chronology of the kings of judah and israel through the bible.. the bible says there are actually (2) 70-year periods.. the first being one of servitude to the babylonians of both israel & judah from 609 bce to 539 bce.

I agree about 'new light'--i have a constructionist view, any new light should build upon, not replace, existing doctrine.

Don't know what it is, but the news of a special announcement has been all over the 'net for the last couple of days. The latest rumour 'de jour' is that it involves restructuring the meeting schedule, specifically bookstudies.

Lol...that's a great list, Dinah. Some others I thought of:
1 You know that stuff that goes in your car is pronounced "ole", not "oil".
2 You know what a 'hot water heater' and a 'hose pipe' are
3 The only thing you have to put in sweet tea is a lemon wedge
4 You run into practically ALL your friends at Walmart on the weekends
