i am curious, for those of us here who have left the jw org, who actually lets it be known to people that they were once a practicing jw.. for me, this is something i tend to keep quiet because it is something i'm not particularly proud of.

the world doesnt know how dangerous or divisive the cult is.
i woud liken it to "jim jones", but the death of the members is emotional and longer as they lose their identities, families and potential futures.
they rip your life from you to further their agendas and the hell know what those agendas really could be.
Escaped, I empathise with you. If you stick around here for a while you'll see that there are many people like yourself who have had bad experiences with the WT, and are now trying to piece their lives back together, and so you may take comfort in this. There are so many unique people with unique experiences, you'll see that every one has got their own 'story' to tell. It can be very theraputical at times listening to what the JWD board members have to say.

i hear it a lot on this board that the 607 date is wrong... i figured that out while i was a jw... never really thought much about it though.
just thought, ok, if it's wrong then everything is moved up about 20 or so years.... and for that matter, why is it such a big deal to the society?
why can't they just fix the date so it's right.
Don't you know anyhting about this silly bloody religion? The entire belief system rotates around the year 1914. First of all Charles Taze Russel 'Proved' it by pyramidoligy, then Rutherford went on to use the prophecy in Daniel to support it. If 1914 is false then the society have a whole lot of expaining to do.
I reckon if this happened it would be another 1975 situation, except it would be worse.
