the last time i went on the field service was around the very early 90's.
i have a genuine question for any jw that are active in the door to door work still.. i lived for finding the person that wanted to debate things, i would always be the one to call on the local atheist, vicar, etc etc.
and would hammer home all that was had learnt and research myself with the wts literature of course.
i think 99% of the ppl are noninformed as always. nobody looks up info to destroy jw arguments if they arent affiliated to them.
I agree. JW's are important to themselves and to ex-jws only. most of the other people don't care, they have other things to think about. About taking doors, it seems there are still people responding, specially immigrants. most are probably apathetic, at least in the western world.

an elder who was serving for more than 30 years, faithfull to the organization at all means, has lost his privelage due to the wt education policy.
the reason was that he allowed his son to study at the university.
there is a letter to the elders of the local congregations from Brooklyn headquarters, that any Elder, or MS, that sends children to study looses the possition...
I have not seen such letter and seriously doubt it exists. I know that after the WT article last year (I guess it was last year) some bodies of elders wrote to the society to find out if they should take action on appointed servants that had children at the University. I am not aware of any case of elders or MS that lost privileges due to a child at the University. If the child is still under the parents responsibility and commits some serious wrongdoing then most likely the elders/MS will be removed from the assignment.
True, but removing someone goes beyond the boundary of interpretation. Society may question the grounds. When different standards are to be applied I see it more on tolerating what some do because of their "general standing" rather than being more harsh on others.Loca congregations tend to intrepret the guidelines from the society differently. It very well may be that this elder was removed because he sent his kid to college. Same circumstances in another congregation, and the body may not do a thing.

I have not read all the posts and do not know if someone mentioned it already, but there was a WT (1986?) that said the end would come before the end of the 20th century. It was then corrected in the bound volume. I must have the link to it somewhere, buried in my favourites.

first of all welcome! I think you do have some valid points, like everyone else. That is a fault I have, I always think others have a measure of right when they express themselves. I do not believe in human stupidity but I do believe biases totally influence our thinking. For this reason people having the same experience/information may come to different conclusions.
I have not read all the posts in the two threads, but still I could see a number of good questions that have been asked to you. I also have two:
Could you ever imagine that your beliefs could be wrong?
How do you think other religious/non-religiuos people would answer this same question?
