Anyone else setting up the Christmas tree or thinking of it already?

being that i like the looks of the christmas lights and that i have had 20 years of not being able to set them up, i have already taken the step of setting up the christmas tree.

on it are huge amounts of lights--12 sets of c6 led bulbs (they come 60 to a set) plus a set of 70 miniature leds for the top region.

i ran out of c6 bulbs about halfway up the tree (not to worry, i have the other 6 sets on order and they should be arriving today).. there are some things to think about when setting up a holiday tree out of "season".

I am going to put up a nativity creche with banners and hanging tapestries displaying the angels singing and shouting for joy and the wise men bringing gifts.

I will have a small ceramic tree in my den to put presents around but the main focus of my celebration will be Jesus, not presents.

I want to keep my celebration focused on my Savior's arrival so I'll be playing the more traditional Christmas music that focuses on worship and the arrival of Jesus.

This will be my 1st Christmas winter up north and hope that I get to have a white Christmas. I love snow and how it makes everything look clean and fresh. It is so beautiful.

Could the WTBTS get JWs to kill?

i'm not saying those in power would even contemplate doing this, but i wonder just how far jws would go to obey their leaders.

would they go as far as to kill, if they thought god had given that message to 'his people'?.

it would probably take years of subtle changes in their message so that it didn't come as a big shock.

I already post there when I can. I work a lot and work different shifts so I can't post regularly. I do as much as I can to help keep the JW's from running everybody off and ganging up on people. Ganging up seems to be their most favorite activity. Makes it hard to respond to posters when you are trying to answer 2-3 people at a time. You tend to want to give up.

Love your list. Brings back all kinds of memories. Born and raised in NOLA- the Irish Channel then Algiers. Moved to Mississippi but am now in the midwest. I'm getting too old to go thru any more total losses from hurricanes. I gave up and moved north. But my heart is still in Louisiana.

I can remember going fishing and crabbing to out-of- the- way places with my momma and daddy on backroads made from shells. I was in my 20's before I realized that other people had gravel roads but ours were made from shells.

I remember miles and miles of ditches filled with those purple and blue lillies so unique to southern La.

I remember thousands of turtles sunning themselves in those very same ditches.

I remember having a contest with my siblings to see who could count the most snakes on our trips.

I remember "neutral grounds" and brick streets.

I remember home.

hypothetically, if all religion was eliminated and all people stopped believing how would you see the world in a few years?

Don't forget those great atheist bastions of freedom and socialist workers paradises- USSR, China, Cambodia. Together their wonderful examples of freedom from religion brought about @100 million deaths in the 20th century. Maybe we'll be even luckier in this century and kill half a billion when we finally manage to wipe out every trace of a belief system. Can just imagine all those greenies salivating at the thought of all those dead people. Fertilizer for the trees and plants and room for all the animals.

Quantum Universe

an acquaintance was telling me about how there have been some new discoveries in quantum mechanics and that "everything we know is going to change", his words.

he said that these top scientists and physicists have already met with the world's top religious leaders and explained to them what they have discovered and how it will change everyone's perception about reality.. i'm not all that informed on quantum mechanics and all that scientific mumbo-jumbo other than to know that some people believe that there are parallel universes and that it might be possible(?

) that we exist in different universes at the same time.. from what this guy was telling me, i gathered (i think) that reality and our perception of reality is based on nothing tangible except information.

Diamonds, Are They a Scam?

watching the history channel on all the effort, expense and equipment that goes into mining them, cutting and polishing them, the above question occured to me.

so, except for industrial uses, what is it about them?

i mean, as far as looking at them, glass worth less than a nickel can look the same.

DeBeer's has an almost worldwide monopoly on diamonds. They buy up all the available diamonds and have huge rooms where they are stashed. Billions of dollars worth. I saw a documentary @10 years ago about this. They only allow a certain number of diamonds on the market each year to keep the prices artifically high. I have refused to buy real diamonds for that reason and have seen and bought very beautiful CZ diamonds forincredibly cheap prices compared to the price of real diamonds. They are just as pretty, and in some cases the CZ's are much prettier than the cheaper real diamonds.

Babylon The Great & Life Everlasting download links by request!

we received a pm from one of the friends here with a request for the download link for the babylon the great book.

the pm also mentioned a "chart" which reminded us also of the book, "life everlasting in freedom of the son's of god.

the "life everlasting" book has a chart marking 6,000 years of man's existence down to 1975.
