  maybe i'm just a bit paranoid but i think my parents may be on to me.

  i hope i didn't blow my cover.... i was out with some jw kids and realised that i left all my "apostate" research and my notebook out on my desk in my room.

  when i got home my mother was crying in her room.

  Would they know that any website is involved? Have a backup plan in case your computer gets targeted. You may have to get used to using computers at school or the public library or at a friend's house, if they decide that Internet access should be revoked at home.

  On the other hand, they may decide that coming down hard on you could backfire at this stage of your 'exploration.' Maybe that could work to your advantage, if you are able to be cool and play it the right way. [Don't ask me what the right way is...I have no clue.]

  Wish Me Well: Surgery Tomorrow

  well, i did my best with physical therapy but it's not enough.

  my knee is very unstabile (especially since i fell again 6 weeks ago).

  tomorrow i'm scheduled for knee surgery to repair my acl..

  Name "UNWRITTEN" Rules That JWs Are Supposed To Follow

  as with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.

  here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.

  jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".

  A sister should never challenge a brother or tell him he's wrong. If ever she does, she should be very careful to phrase it as a question so as not to offend his male ego. [A sister said this outright when I was a fairly newbie JW in the early/ mid-nineties.]

  This approach, of course, leaves the path wide open for him to NOT take the 'hint' of correction, and the sister must then go along with whatever the brother says or decides based on his conclusions/ assumptions--erroneous, though she knows them to be! She's not allowed to assert her correctness with him in any kind of firm fashion.

  Guys--seriously--how many of you would rather be corrected when you ARE wrong, and don't care so much whether the corrector is male or female?

  Why no separate section for poetry?

  i have seen incredible numbers of poems on this board since i came here.. the renga challenge, started by littletoe is an outstanding one at present.. there is a topic for humor, and for adult.. i think poetry is so obviously important to many on this board it should have its own topic section.. hb.

  just wanted to say that the new semester has started at university, so i won't be able to post here as much as i would like.

  as someone said in a recent discussion.. 'education is the true destroyer of falsehoods'.. so i'm doing my best to get as educated as possible... that means a huuuuge schedule :).

  Instances of JWs causing serious harm?

  can you recall instances where the wts seriously damaged the emotional health or generally the life of other individuals or you?

  what i can recall are two young jws at the congo who had strict elder fathers and ended up suffering severe depression due to the many restrictions in their lives.

  growing up as a jw in a repressive and unloving environment is not easy.

  When I was in the hospital having my second JW baby, on the news there was a story of a two JW brothers (13-year-old and 11, I believe) who committed suicide and left a note. It was the fighting and constant turmoil of living in a religiously divided household with elder dad and unbelieving mom that did it. They preferred to 'check out' of the miserable existence they were in and expected to wake up to a paradise earth with their family at peace.

  There are many other instances I can name, including my own. Too many to go into right now.
