  How polite are you?

  often i'm following someone into a building and entering the same door, and most of the times, the person in front won't even try to keep the door open so that it wont close in my face.

  knowing that someone is right behind me, i'll even wait a second or two and hold the door open for that person.

  i guess it has to do with being well educated.

  Actually, this is kind of a funny topic for me, because I AM in the habit of holding doors open for people just behind me or even allowing them to go through first, if they're close enough to do so unawkwardly.

  What DOES get awkward is, sometimes I'm not sure when it's a man--especially an older man--if it's more polite for me to lag a few seconds to see if he initiates opening the door first (as used to be the custom). Some men, older especially, still expect this--in which case, the polite thing for a FEMALE to do would be to give him time to reach and open the door first.

  Does anyone have any feedback on this? (Or should this really be a new thread?)

  Went to San Antonio and didn't talk to mil

  i haven't spoken to my mil in a week and took a sunday off for myself and went to san antonio.

  saw the alamo and had a late lunch at joes crab shack yuck!.

  i had a good time and walked on the river walk and it was beautiful.. i am a bit tired but mentally refreshed i am told that i am being selfish and uncaring.

  hypothetical situation: one day you wake up, and when you get up and turn around you see that you are still lying in your bed.

  tada there are now two of you.. i'm not talking like a twin, or clone... i mean an double, you and the other you both have the exact same memories, skills, likes, dislikes, goals and personality.. would you get along?

  We'd do everything together, and we wouldn't disagree over what we want to do because we would both want the same thing. We could double our income, and not fight over what to do with the finances.

  My sister's in ICU

  one of my sister's was found laying in the door way of her home by a neighbor.

  no one knows how long she had been there.

  she was hypothermic when they found her.

  'No such thing as disfellowshipping or disassociating now'

  i heard it said recently on this forum that there was no such thing now as disfellowshipping or disassociating.

  you are either a jw or not... is this correct?

  and how much should i read into the thing about 'not talking to the inactive' now, as per advice given at the latest assembly?
