You know, I came back to this site only to find some guy named Simon who PM'd me and thanked me for wasting his precious bandwidth by announcing that I don't feel well.
I've found a lot of nice people here but I guess that isn't one of the qualifications for being a member.

Too bad. So sad. I really wanted to go to my friends house tomorrow night for her Oscar's Party. Don't know that I will make it.
Hubby's back is not doing well and he just wants to finish the retaining wall which seems to be taking forever. He feels crackling in his back and thinks he tore muscles in the sledding accident. For those of you who don't know, he broke 2 vertabrae a month ago. He thought he was getting better but then he started working physically and now he is back to being Mr. Crabby pants. Ugh

we are all americans, all human beings and so on.
then i worked in a cell center and spoke to these people every day, in that time, i have learned the following to be sooooo true.. florida - is full of ooooooold people.

I am a Southern California transplant living in a small hick town just North of Astoria Oregon on the Coast of Washington State. I'm sorry, but the people are so weird here at times. It is a fishing community, 1/2 the people are related and they have to import people to marry fresh.
I didn't realize all this stuff when we first moved here and dug myself a couple of holes with the locals. I made smashing comments about missing teeth (I'm talking the FRONT teeth), 15 beater cars in the front yard, yellow skin, etc and just that the people are plain strange. My local friend said, "I know. The problem is all those city folks moving in from California." I laughed but she was offended apparently so I have learned to keep my mouth shut around here.
My hubby calls it 'backyard'. I've heard some call it 'backasswards.' Both fit.
All in all I like it here though.

my wife's sister has cancer they thought she was dying.
my wife and her were very close when they were children.
I am sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. Cancer is an awful disease and it robs many people of their lives and loved ones.

i'm lucky to have a good friend who's a carpenter so he'll be doing the complicated stuff, but while i'm happy to have a go at general diy, i'm always stressed about screwing up, rather than just getting on with it and enjoying it.

There will always be things that are unexpected bloopers. It will be okay. Just plan well and take it one day at a time.
We are planning on building our dream home. To date, my husband has installed the septic, done all the dirt work, installed the water, power, cable and phone, put in a serpentine retaining wall around the circular drive and is currently working on a 6ft retaining wall on the other side of the property to hold back the beach dune. This whole thing has cost us close to 50k because we bought the excavator, tons of rock, the PUD is a rip off and the . And we haven't even STARTED to build yet and we did the work ourselves.
You should take before and after pics for all of us to see. A new kitchen is awesome!

By the way: The little IQ comment is because I took an IQ test online a while back and my score came back as 152. Funny thing, most people would NEVER mistake me for a genious so we often joke about my IQ kicking in.
It just wasn't the right time and he wasn't joking to be funny this time.

Well, I'll just tell you how I DID handle it.
I took the dish towel that I had in my hand and flipped it at his face. The man has EXCELLENT self control issues because he did nothing. Just steamed and pretty much got out of the way. We are both 1st borns and have battling that issue for years.
Despite the comment, he really is a keeper. Despite my flipping him with the towel, I think I am a good catch too. Just trouble at times. I'm sure we can all relate to the fact that it's tough to be married and sometimes we just can't stand our spouse. All in all....we've been married almost 16 yrs and have 4 great kids. No cheating, no domestic violence (minus the towel,lol) no alcohol or drug abuse.
Oh, he is a WORKaholic though. Yikes. Drives me bonkers but whatever. We work TOGETHER too and that can be fun. ha
