here are some searching questions about the governing body's public position on the prescribed treatment of all "apostates" against the organization, as taught at the most recent summer assemblies of jehovah's witnesses, in the year of 2013.. in your opinion, why does not the verse (shown below) not apply to how jehovah's witnesses are currently taught to feel about "apostates," and their activities toward the organization?
the verses in question, are from the words of jesus who clearly said:.
"however, i say to you: continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you that you may prove yourselves sons of your father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous.

just wondering if punkofnice and my family will be bonding in hell together 'cause they aren't "saved".. and wondering if i really am an apostate..
CS,
It may be that I agree with what you have written: I know that the JWs are not doing God's work. But if you are a member of an organized religion that has prophets who can tell you today that your belief of yesterday must change today--then perhaps we are not understanding one another.
You wrote: "Salvation is a journey" And I might say "Jesus tells us that salvation involves being "born again".
But what is that?
The man named Nicodemus asked that question too. I like that Jesus answered with what might be called poetry. Some might say, that may be the problem here. Jesus doesn't naail it down for us.
"But fools walk in where angels fear to tread."
"born again" gets nailed down in many churches. But as far as we know from the scriptures, Jesus never nailed it down for Nicodemus--So salvation becomes a journey and being born again is that man's own undertaking, and salvation is as personal a process as birth--Some are slow and some are long and difficult.
I do not believe that Jesus wanted anyone to interfere with that "birth" beyond minor interventions. He warned of that at Matthew 23:10--not one of his followers were to call themselves an "official guide or an authoritative leader".
What do you think of having someone else mediate the process other than Jesus?
i agreed, if only because i want to see my friend of many years.
the 'heavy' is a large, imposing man with a booming voice and is a creature of the gb through and thru (eg only visited his dfd dad on his death bed because it was a 'good witness' to the hospital staff) and i'm feeling stressed about seeing him.
i so badly wanted to see my friend though, i agreed without thinking and now wish i hadn't have.
This is a time to pray, girl.
Just treat him as a guest and nothing else. I'm sure you are a fine hostess. Just put your mind there.
Maybe he'll leave a tip!
But just remember, he will leave.

So true, LisaRose
for those of you who are "out" forcibly ( disfellowshipped) or voluntarily ( dissasociated) is there anything.
that you actually miss about the witnesses or meetings?.
A few weeks ago watched a film called the Truman Show. Many have seen it--Jim Carrey plays a man whose life is staged as a reality show--only he doesn't know it. He is the only "real" person in it. Everyone else in it are actors--so, pleasant as it is made for him, it is false. Ultimately, he "wakes up" to it.
And he couldn't stand it.
That is what happened to me when I learned TheTruthAboutTheTruth. I was driving to the meeting alone in my truck when it occurred that all the things that had happened pointed to one thing--it was false. My truck turned into a parking lot along the road and I sat and shook and cried. And could not go to a meeting again. I went for discussions with the elders--but never again for a meeting and do not like to remember them now at all.

Yes, Laika, I think we should keep it simple too.

sorry, folks, I'm not able to express myself well. I mean to say--Is it possible that people don't hear Jesus for more than one reason?
The gospels gave one reason--some just rejected his teaching because they liked the status quo.
But there are now dogmas and ideas not part of what was in the gospel that people heard sitting at his feet. These days, perhaps people do not "get saved" because they are not able to hear that gospel. We know we didn't hear it or preach it as JWs. If that easy, light burden has been made heavy with doctrines foreign to his good news then who can blame them?
Some people I know will say they like Jesus--and they have no use for Christianity.

Right, so we listen to him when we hear him.
What if what some hear is not what Jesus says--but what others TELL them he meant/said.
What if the reason some are deaf is because they really ARE NOT HEARING WHAT JESUS SAID.
What then?

And wondering if I really AM an apostate.
this is one thing that i just can not seem to resolve in my mind and i want people... in particular diehard christians to please explain something to me.. we have humans on 7 continents for thousands of years before the bible was written and in many places for 2000 years after the bible was written had no concept of christianity at all.
never hearing of jesus or reading the book of revelation.
they had sophisticated religious belilefs in many cases - and venerated god or gods and no doubt these people really wanted to please these dieties.
I have been following your line of comment/inquirey and that's why I pecked out my response.
I have wondered and wandered in those no-man's-land of questions, too. Thanks for saying something back to me.
