Can a JW be accused of apostasy for just quoting scriptures?

for example, let's say an awake jw wanted to share ttatt about the true meaning of john 10:16, so he just posts on his facebook wall a couple passages of scripture with no commentary whatsoever - like this:.

In truth I objected to the interpretation of Genesis 22 in the WT literature. My Book of Bible Stories says that God told Abraham to kill and burn his son.

I asked why I could not read the Genesis 22 bible verses that are more ambiguous and do NOT demand that interpretation (and made the case that the difference between the original Hebrew words were significant because they were so different.)

I asked to read from the Bible instead of the literature at my first meeting--I was told plainly: NO.

It is tedious dealing with the WT. In the end, nothing matters--least of all TRUTH. Certainly the integrity of a person's conscience.

Just reading is pretty therapeutic. Dialogue can get rambunctious.

Family, you know. Not like JW family. We bust each other's chops here, sometimes. But we do get to talk to each other.

New to JWN and excited!

...someone who was disfellowshipped ended up goin to a bar getting into a fight/getting preggo or somethin of the nature and then realized how pitiful their life had become.

they then 'prayed' to jah and wala the light clicked and they came back and feel better then ever!!.

You are brave to start this "operation". How you do it--well, every method has its own effects, good and bad. No way to do it without consequences though. So don't fret needlessly about strategy. You are cutting the WT off and out of your life after it has grown into you. It is bound to hurt some ways.

It is going to be better. Just remember. IT WILL BE BETTER.

Thoughts on going back, am I the only one that feels this way?

hello everyone, i know you have heard this topic before and your probably thinking.

...not again lol.. but i was wondering if anyone has thought of going back for the same reasons as myself, i don't think its the truth but i searched and my conclusion is that other religions don't have the truth, they are all wrong in my opinion.

if there is no other religion to go too, why leave were i was born and raised.

Put your roots down in reality.

I wasn't born-in. I have had another life--but really, excal, you may not realize this but much of life is about forming a community--not walking into one.

Who will understand you? Someone, sometime. But what happens when you live life underground so to speak, as you describe in your OP?

You seem a funny guy, a kind person. You don't sound hard to please.

Who will understand you INSIDE the Hall? Will you listen to others who marry "in the Truth"? Is that always so easy? If you have kids (it happens!)--what will you do ? Teach them the truth about your truth? Think about the ramifications.

It may be hard to think of life that is a slow-cooked meal--but convenience isn't everything. Learn to cook up your own life. You'll burn a few meals, some will taste lousey--but you will learn. And it will nourish you.

Not the least bit offended, QuellyCaF. Being angry and frustrated--sad-- to the point of speechlessness is the worst. We have to talk. Sometimes @#$%^& is about all I could/can manage.

if you haven't joined the lds or considered it, as an ex-jw, what is your general view of the lds faith?.

For first-hand accounts of the early days of plural marriage(and why JSmiths writing reflects more literary ability than many suspect he possessed) read the diary exerpts of his personal secretary, William Clayton.

These writings surfaced in the 1980's (?) and are not the sort of archive the LDS Church wanted to get out in the public eye.

Like the Ray Franz book Crisis of Conscience it is documentarian in its perspective and therefore the more difficult to ignore.

Corrupt power/power corrupts. Spiritual hood-winkery and sexual pick-a dilloes.

The LDS has its own writting department and "researchers" who have revised the past just as the Wasptower has. Not a dimes worth of difference IMO.

Read for yourself:search "Joseph Smith's secretary, William Clayton" and go from there.

What are you doing on Christmas day?

i have not gone out on that day in years.

and have no intention of ever doing that again.

Get our under our roof 4 grown sons who live near and our youngest daughter from afar along with any friends they want to bring. Eat a turkey with trimmings and fresh bread, (hopefully mend some fences that need mending) enjoy one another. And...watch a marionette show that I will present for their entertainment. That may either laugh with me or at me--I don't care.

There has been a lot of hurt in the family. I just want them to find their way back to each other.

how do you manage serving an organization built on inherent contradictions?.

he said: organization helps people to grow spiritual, like any other religious organizations do.

Hello there, NeverKnew!

The problem seems to be how MUCH outside the Church-box we think.

The Conference of American Catholic Religious Sisters--the nuns are struggling to follow their conscience, Jesus and perform their duties to the poor. Yet they are constantly running afoul of the hierarchy. They have wondered if their promise of obedience is to the church or to God.

I appreciate that there are places where you can grow--I am only saying this: churches do have their rules.

edit: that said, Pope Francis is bending them. Best one they've had in a while.

Until we have a case like the man defrocked, I can agree with you. Perhaps his church let him think as he liked --until his son was gay and wanted to be married.
