Choosing life
Do you think it is driven by an absolute fear of death...........that can somehow make some lose their 'senses' when it comes to those they love and cling determindely to their 'hope' of eternal salvation?

Accepting Destruction To Obtain Life
by choosing life inone of the major premises of most religions is to accept that some must be destroyed in order for others to obtain everlasting life.
of course, there are many platitudes that a person relies on to soothe the conscience and sanitize the mind.. the ones to be destroyed deserve it.
they refuse to do something, worship god, beg for forgiveness, live a clean life, whatever.they are selfish and nobody can change them but themselves.. but underneath the smug acceptance of salvation, while the others suffer destruction is probably the most selfish concept of all.

tattoos and piercings, do they have a meaning for you?
by memario inlately on here someone got a piecing and my question is did it mean anything to you or was it a thing to do?
i have thought of getting a tattoo but i don't know what to get.
it needs to repersent something of significance in my life.

If you want to do something as a reminder for yourself personally as a reminder of 'waking up' then that is cool! It doesnt have to be a tattoo but if thats what you choose then look around you for inspiration, I am sure it will come.
Fortunately some of us in this enlightened 21st century have moved away from associating tattoo's with the likes of prisoners and slaves, but you are always going to get odd one's who have a limited view on things and will state them as an authority..........thats life.........after a time you recognise their game.
So if it means something to you, and you can live with the permanence I wouldnt worry too much about the dogmatic critics.

how much effort does it take to check your spelling before you post a topic??.
just read over some of the topics up for discussion right now and you'll see a very shocking (to me, at least) disregard for accuracy.. if you can't trouble yourself to get your spelling right how are the rest of us going to respect the fact you have your reasoning right either??.

What you miss out in your example of sending our children to school is the difference in ability.................my sister and my nephew suffer with dyslexia which makes it very difficult for them in areas of spelling and reading etc................my sister grew up with a very bright sister who received all the praise for her academic capability whilst she was considered as a non tryer and admonished as such......
So when I say you dont know peole's circumstance I mean it...................and if your happy to continue with you little crusade which may result in some feeling uncomfortable then so be it.
There are different ways of achieving and they are not all in the area's of literacy.....................so I am not championing pity, that is your twist on it.
What I am trying to do is get those that seek to judge others whether consciously or not to consider what they are saying before they say it............
One area of achieving is to learn sensitivity and compassion for others less fortunate than ourselves

I have had enough of this.................is it not arrogant to suggest that people's spelling or grammar mistakes come about due to a lack or regard for the reader.
You really want to take a long hard look at yourselves and understand how you are making people with poor spelling and grammar skill's feel.
Are you so perfect..................that you can draw attention to faults others have.
You are no better than Jehovahs Witnesses judging others, as if because you apparently try harder you are somehow better...........what if there is some poor single mum out there that has 4 kids too care for, a job, is worrying about making ends meet and doesnt even know they are making spelling mistakes........you dont know people's circumstances.
You are setting yourselves up to be the judges of other peoples motivation, character and drive and I wonder in all of this what exactly your motivations are..........
If there is a bad reaction to a thread like this it is because it is a form of judgement on others from a very limited, narrow and ignorant viewpoint!!!!

I am going to try and not get sarcastic in my response to this thread because despite some comments I have made recently to the author, I do recognise and respect him for the intelligent and sometimes lovable human being that he is............although his approach and manner annoys me on occassion..............as I am sure mine does others............
BTT.....
Would it not be arguable that perhaps lurkers would be observing how we treat each other................they live by the concept of 'you will recognise Gods people by the love they have amongst themselves'....................and say a lurker felt that the love was missing in his congregation, or his entire JW experience.............would he feel the love reading a thread like this.
Not that I am suggesting this site as an alternative to the religion..................but sometimes the way people are toward each other on here would be enough to send them running back to the JWs screaming 'Take me back please.....all is forgiven'.......and no I dont exclude myself from being guilty of this.

early in the week my wife started corresponding with one of her old friends.
he is no longer a witness and while i'm not sure what the catalyst was they started talking about why he left the witnesses.

You outline the problem our government has made................whilst making sure that nobody goes without food, shelter or clothing.........and the case of this family is extreme in that it isnt normal over here for people receiving benefits to get such a grand house (its beacause there are so many of them, it would be difficult to immediately rehouse them together in normal council homes).............they have neglected to think about the long term consequence of the system......
As I said early and you suggested if they had to work a certain amount of hours per week to qualify for these benefits.............it would make them accept responsibility for them and theirs, it would give them a sense of satisfaction and it would be a good role model for their youngsters..........I have suggested this times.......that those that are fit and able to work who receiving benefits should be expected to do some work...........and it would also benefit the economy......................unfortunately I can suggest all I like but I am not a politcian...........so chances are my suggestions are falling on deaf ears.
I know the thirld world is far different from the situation we are discussing.........but it was knee jerk reaction to what I considered a very dumb statement

What would you do about the millions of children thats parents cant afford them in third world countries then..........serious answers on a postcard please.
I cannot believe you think these kids should be taken from their parents..............I assume you dont have kids.............because it beggars belief that anyone with kids would make such a rash, harsh judgemental comment.
Whilst there are problems with the current system we have in place in our country.................nobody is going to starve, not get their teeth fixed or miss an education.
This family are better off not working...............that is how the system works unfortunately sometimes over here.
My answer to this current problem would be that for those receiving benefits, if they are fit and able to work, that they would be expected to do some type of work (10 to 20 hours per week) to qualify for those benefits.
Kids who are battered and abused by parents should be taken away from those parents not ones who are not the richest in the world
