It's kind of funny, isn't it? She goes to the KH, stays for the meeting, gives them her name and address, and they STOP knocking on her door. I think the JWs prefer doors where no one is at home.

Deepest undersea vents discovered by UK team
by cantleave ini have just read the book, life ascending by nick lane, which discusses the possibility of luca originating in alkaline hydrothermal vents.
then this morning i heard about this story.

Life Ascending is a really good book to read. The chapter on the deep sea vents and how DNA might have evolved there is amazing. I had to read it over too, to really wrap my mind around it.
Thanks for the Khan Academy link. Going there next.

Petra/Vulcan/-Just coffee talk!
by Atlantis ini thought i might take a few minutes to sit down with the members here and have a cup of coffee with you, and introduce myself and my daughter debbie (petra), and i am john posting as (vulcan).
now i can't type worth anything so thats why i have petra do it.-we would like to thank mr. simon for his hospitality and if it is easier for us to post using the login atlantis uses, then that is ok!
there are 4 of us here using the same computer and it might be easier that way to keep track.

Nice OP. Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you let your daughter be herself. What's the point of being so restrictive? Teenagers need to experiment with their looks as part of the growing up process. Parent's should be the ones to draw a line, not church leaders or school teachers or anyone else.

Your Take On 30 Hour Pioneering
by jw07 inthe gb has magically reduced the hours sufficient for being an auxillary pioneer for march and april to 30.. this is my take:.

the extra days of everlasting life you accrue for each year of pioneering.
very funny!
It pains me to think of all the time I spent getting 100 hours a month all those years ago. Can't believe I wasted my life that way.

The problems with fighting the WTS
by return of parakeet inover the years, many well-intentioned posters have been frustrated when they ask fellow apostates (wear the name proudly!
) to band together to let the world know how corrupt and destructive the wt cult is.
i think there are some hard facts about this particular cult that make combatting it so frustrating:.

Or, some of us see the wtbts as just part of the problem. I think all religions suck, some just do more obvious damage than others do. And I've moved on. I don't see a need to campaign against the wtbts. I'd get behind a movement to tax all of them, though.

How to tell family why you are no longer attending meetings?
by El_Guapo inso it has been over a month, maybe closer to two that i haven't attended a meeting.
my stress level has gone way down, and my life is pretty good right now.

My mother asked me that once. I said I no longer believed anything in the Bible. She asked why and I said there was no point in discussing it. "Let's talk about other things." That worked with my mother because she was rather passive. She let it go, didn't shun, didn't ask questions.

I've enjoyed reading all these cool things you all have done!
I guess the thing I've done that was most awesome for me was to go to China and stand on the great wall. I had the feeling there that I couldn't get any farther from home without leaving the planet. Not just that the great wall is so far and so amazing, but also that the Chinese culture was very strange to me. I really understood what "foreign" means.
Also, became a published writer which I never expected as a JW. That means a lot to me, if not to anyone else. Still getting royalties from the first some of my books.
can't really think of anything else right now

Ignore it. Mom is being petty. Go on being true to yourself, no matter who unfriends you on facebook.
Facebook isn't the real world, after all.
I'm not trying to minimize how you feel, though. I know that kind of crap hurts.
