Your kids will be much better off this way, even though they suffer the loss of their friends. No good comes from being raised JW.

Well, good for you. Protect your children. You're being nicer than I would be, to spell it out for them. I think I would just tell them to piss off, they had their chance when you were a kid, and they screwed it up. You can't let them do the same things to your children that were done to you.
You don't have to tell the children too much -- when they ask about their grandparents, just say "that crazy religion" makes them act like that. You can answer their questions about the crazy religion truthfully, appropriately for their ages, so they grow up understanding the damage a crazy religion can do.

I love my life, I don't want to die
by losingit inhello everyone..... i've been thinking a lot lately, when i have a chance to be alone my mind immediately comes to the topic at hand-- i don't want to die.

I hope you open up to your therapist too, and tell the therapist all the things you've said here. You need some help to reduce your anxiety. If your parents want to help you, accept some of their help, even if you don't move home again. I see why you want to be independent, but with three kids a little help would be a good thing.
I hope you feel better soon, not so anxious and more peaceful.

Seriously considering stepping down as Elder
by fader77 ini have been an elder for 6 years.
it's been the last 2 years or so that i've really seen the hypocrisy, but the ability to know the shenanigans of the society through the body of elders letters has kind of kept me in there.
i'm to the point now that i can't stand the hatred and bitterness that the body of elders has towards myself and my whole family.

Get out and get on with life. As a matter of fact, an old JWN member called Little Toe did that exact thing -- he gave his final talk and then said he was no longer a JW and he walked off the platform and out of the KH forever. I think you can still find his posts about that experience if you do a search.

The hardship of being a gay Jehovahs witness.
by truthwillsetyoufree inplease spare a moment to consider the difiiculties faced by gay jehovahs witnesses.
i was raised and baptised as a very serious jw.
every waking moment of my day was lived for jehovahs and his organization and for nothing else.

I'm so glad you're out of the wtbts now, even though you had to go through the pain of disfellowshipping. I think one of the most important themes of life is authenticity. I don't think anyone can be authentic while at the same time being a JW. I'm glad you can explore an authentic life now.

Editors are incredibly important! There are a lot of substandard pieces of writing out there, from people who don't see the need for an editor.
I have to say that I earned the most money from a book I self-published some years ago. However, it was written to fill a need in a niche market, so it isn't surprising it did fairly well for a self-published book. When I published a book with a big publisher, I found out they consider selling 5,000 copies to be successful. That's a long way from selling a million or so copies!
I think it's wonderful that the internet and print-on-demand have made it possible for anyone to publish a book. However, if you aren't already known in your field, or you don't have a pretty awesome marketing budget, you aren't likely to sell a lot of books. In fact, one of the things publishers look for now is writers who already have an online following so there's a ready market for their books.
I find the world of writing and publishing to be fascinating.

Goodbye JW net
by snare&racket inforgive me for indulging in a goodbye but it would feel wrong not to,.
i hope the discussions and atmosphere here do not change for it is a bubbling brew of doubt, bravery and sincere hunger for answers.
these are healthy ingrediants for humans and especially for a jehovah's witness.. this forum offers not just the ability to ask without consequence, but it also offers the means to be real.

According to research from ALCS, professional writers earn about $18K per year. I don't think I ever earned that much. I think most years as a writer I earned about $10K. I still get royalties, but that is passive income. I don't write much any more. I think the public doesn't realize that only a few writers make the big bucks. The rest have to work part-time as waiters or something similar, to support their writing hobby.
How about the rest of you -- how's it going trying to earn a living as a writer?
