The spelling fairy says: It's 'atheist', not 'athiest'
by Apognophos inatheists are people who are "a-" (without) "theism" (a belief in god).
they are not "athiests"; they are not "athier" than everyone else, nor is "athy" a word.. .
this isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but it's a mistake i see every day on here and i thought it might be nice to have a topic we can bump just to periodically remind people of the proper spelling, especially since they are sometimes referring to their very own beliefs.

It sounds to me as though you got a good deal! It should last quite a while, and meanwhile you have no car payment! I like that, too. I'd rather drive an older car, even kind of crumby looking, if it gets me around and there's no car payment.
It's so nice to be able to go out, hop in the car, and go wherever I want. I put a grand total of 6 miles on my car most days, if I go out at all. Very low mileage over the year, so I expect the car will last a while.

Idiot pulled a gun on cops. Cops don't like to be shot at. Don't blame them at all.

Does consciousness end with the death of the body
by givemejustalittlemoretime inapparently, the carvakas in anceint hinduism were materialists and skeptics, arguing that consciousness ends with the death of the body and that therefore we should take pleasure in this life while we possess it and practice compassion toward others.
they also argued that direct observation is the only certain way to know anything, and thus the existence of supernatural forces and realities cannot be established and must be rejected.

Well, that really is the answer. Thinking and consciousness take place in the brain. When your brain dies, consciousness ends. I don't see any evidence for any other outcome.

Congratulations on your new car! I was without a car for about nine months, too. Now that I have a car again, I can get around. I like going out to the lake to eat my lunch, for instance, which I couldn't do without a car. I know how you felt without a car! Your new car will probably last a long time, too, so you won't have to buy another car any time soon.
I have a system, so different from what I used to do. I used to buy new or nearly new cars every other year. Since I moved up here to the mountains and I'm living on my retirement income, I have a different system. I bought a Nissan Pathfinder at a yard sale for $600.00 and spent about $1000 on repairs, tune-up, smog and registration. It lasted me about three years. I figure that worked out much less expensively than a newer car with a car payment.
I just bought a 2001 Mercury Sable. It gets good mileage (for a Ford product) and is very comfortable and easy to drive. I spent $1000.00 on the car and about $800 or so on a tune-up, tires, registration, insurance. Not bad, and if I get three years out of it, I'll be very happy.
