As mentioned above the generic "Jehovah will provide" comeback struck me as "we don't know" or "we can't bear to think about it". I realized at a fairly young age that was Bovine Scatology (BS).
My wife and I do have three months of supplies socked away and are prepared for a large earthquake or other natural disaster. 99% of the people around us are not. We choose to not end up a refugee that is reliant on the government who has consistantly dropped the ball when the poo-poo hits the fan.

Climate: Natural disasters

where i live the sun is very hot at this time that your skin feel as though it's on fire.

Geologist's have allready found proof that the ice sheets reached clear into central america. If I remember correctly they found drop stones that came from very far north and do not match any type of local rocks.
On my property there is a large rock that has scrape marks running east-west where a glacier ground away the rock. It is a great teaching for my daughter to see first hand.
You can pick any mellenium in history and always find a group that tries to use geologic or weather events to forcast the end of the world. You would think people would have grown weary of it by now.

1. as you don't have nhs, what happens if a sick child was in a medical emergency, is there a charity that covers them or will treatment sometimes get withheld if there is no insurance?.

I have a question for the brits. Why do you pronounce aluminum as aluminium? There is no "i" after the n and adding one in makes it sound like a radioactive isotope ( which it isn't BTW).
As far brit humor Monty Python would be at the top of my list. If I had my way every thread would be required to have a dead parrot skit embedded in it. At the end of the thread there should be the fish slap dance as a fitting conclusion.

i ran into her this weekend and she was talking about what she was going to do on her birthday today.
her language around me is also lightly "salted".

She is a trauma nurse and is around death nearly every day which always changes your perspective. Even though her husband is an elder he has always been cool to visit with and has never given me the condecending attitude. After this latest round of chemo he want's me to teach him to fly fish. I hope he pulls through OK but if he doesn't I think that will be the pivotal trigger.
I have always thought of my sis a "lifer" JW so you can imagine my shock when she was talking about her birthday. This will indeed be a strange and interesting process to watch. Her and my wife get along real well and she knows we will be there when she realizes all her JW "friends" are not friends any longer.
Who knows, maybe I will be introducing a new member to JWD real soon. Of course my JW mom will probably end up on psych meds having two of her three kids "gone".

Over the past two months she has been emailing me jokes and stories that no JW would ever read. I ran into her this weekend and she was talking about what she was going to do on her birthday today. Her language around me is also lightly "salted". Last spring she got her BS in nursing degree indicating she does not see the world ending in her estimation. She is married to an elder that has cancer which is not responding to treatment. I am suspecting that when/if he does not make it she will have little reason to continue the charade and make the move.
My family comes from a very long line of JW's going back to before WWI and very few have ever left. I get a sixth sense that she has changed and I have never been around someone fading before. When I was a JW they faded away and I never saw of spoke to them. After I left none of them spoke to me so this will be a first. If she does fade it will send a massive shock wave through my family since it has been 23 yrs since I left.
I am not a very intuitive person but I know my sis well enough to know something is up. The prospects of having a normal relationship with my sister once again is heartwarming to say the least.

Great pic! If you try to fiqure out JW logic you will get a headache. I had the elder Nazi's visit me just because I bought an 1844 black powder pistol back when I was still "in". They encouraged me to not have an implement of war in my house. So I sold it to my JW sister for 1 cent and then she inturn leased it back to me for 1 cent. The next meeting I told them I sold it.
