to all the kids who survived the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!.
first, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and or drank while they were pregnant.
Me and my friends used to build tree houses and dig underground cave forts. Do kids even do that anymore? And to make sure the local hospital emergency departments stayed busy we would ride our bikes over ramps and have distance contests. Our celebrity idols were people like Evil Knieval who actually had a talent and did something other then just get arrested.
I am also proud to be a lawn dart and dodge ball survivor.
i don't know if that's good or not...... for companies in canada exporting to the us, it means less profits, so possible layoffs.. for those travelling to the us, it's good news, cause it costs less to buy us money now.. what's your take on this?.

The US dollar is in serious trouble and we should be protecting or hedging ourselves against it. Commodities are usually a good hedge and I have been investing (and insuring) with gold and silver since 1999. The Fed dropped short term interest rates to help stop the sub prime mortgage trainwreck but also damaged the dollar value in the process. It was allready weak to start with.

cancer cure 'may be available in two years'.
Each week I see on the news about some amazing treatment break through with cancer or other terminal diseases. By the report always has the caveat of it will not be available for 5,7 or ten years. Then we never see or hear about again.
They had a report about a new treatment for degenerative disks that should have been available this summer. Since I have DDD I was very interested and can not find one piece of info about it now. Not even my ortho doc has heard about it. That is very frustrating to say the least and can only be worse for someone that has a terminal condidtion.

one of my first observations is that men are really not welcome in the discussion.
all the reference books and topics i have looked at so far are written by women.
I to have seen alot of women in thier 20's and early thirties that have a very healthy and grounded concept of feminism. My theory is they have seen what radical feminism is has done first hand to thier mothers aunts and older friends and do not want to repeat it. My wife falls somwhere between Gloria Alred and "June" from Leave it to beaver.
i think it already has started.
if you go back to why talk conservative radio got it's start it was because people could listen to on the way to and from work.
well the internet is becoming more available to people at work.
Conservative talk radio became popular because issues and topics were being discussed that the news media would not touch or offer fair non-biased reports on. But the internet is going change all aspects of news and discussion. Every year newpapers are closing shop or being re-designed. I like the idea of the TV and print news having to compete with the internet and have thier facts scrutinized much more in depth.
If CNN does not stop the 24-7 OJ coverage I will be using the internet for all my national news real quick like.
i just watched it on cnn.
the black anchor man on cnn was discussing it with a black guest and of course they do nothing but support him.
they said he has helped many people, hes been harassed, blah, blah,blah.
Oh great! OJ is going to be on the news 24-7 for probably the rest of the year or longer. I tried to watch CNN yesterday for real news about what is going on around the world that really matters and every single time it was OJ, OJ and then more OJ. Make it stop!!! please my head is hurting allready. I am so sick of hearing nothing but stories about talentless celebrity losers.

I usually somehow end up getting into trouble when I try to talk about it. Ther are parts of the feminist movement that are healthy and a few that IMHO are toxic and work against women and society. And I will just leave it at that before I get part of my ass torn off.
think of all the unprotected prostitutes in the world.
if their profession were legalized, they might have access to retirement plans, medical insurance, regular health exams that would protect not only the girl but the client also.
courts and society have traditionally held the body as something sacred that should not be sold, but are people not selling their bodies when they make pornos or pose for pictures or make movies or any such things?
As I mentioned we have a perfectly healthy normal sex life (20 years) and neither of us feels used or manipulated. There is a big difference between extortion and coercion vs. a mutually agreed favor/trade. Now I do know some couples that dueo thier extreme immaturity and other issues they have yet to work out that it would be very toxic and controlling.
With us it's a game with rules dictated by love and respect. I have changed the oil on her car many times and got a big hug and a thank you and That's fine. And then a few days later sometimes she will ambush me and say something like "And now about that oil change.........." with a very devious smile. Keeping a marriage together for two decades requires alot of creativity and exploration. The minute I might feel PW'd then I have no problem saying no.

That holds true for any disease as well as cancer. There is no money in finding cures but plenty of money to be made by managing a disease for as long as possible.

I have done certain tasks that my wife either cannot do herself or just does not want to. Each time I am "paid" but not with money. Who's the prostitute? We have a very happy healthy sex life but I get "bonuses" for taking on extra jobs. Who is using who? What if neither party feels used? You can have a business deal with both parties benefiting. My wife was even told by a therapist that those little "business" transactions" can be a healthy part of a marriage as long as there are no power plays or manipulation involved.
Until women can use thier bodies freely in a business deal if they so choose to then they are still being represssed. I can name off many states that think thay are so progresssive and forward thinking but still tell women what they can and cannot do with thier bodies.
