i reported a scam email ("the irs has a rebate for me") to the seattle kiro news website and they taped an interview with me.

i've never been interviewed like this before.

So...I got duped today!

i am one of those people who always gives money to those who ask me on the street.

the reason is because there was a time when i was a kid that my siblings and i needed to beg on the street for food money because mom and dad were both addicts.. anyway, i was on my way into walmart and a lady stopped me and asked if i could give her a few dollars ($5 to be exact) so that she could pick up a prescription for some medicine.

she explained that she and her kids have been sick with bronchitis and although the kids were better she was not and had run out of money until her check came on the first of the month.. i can also sympethize with having to wait for government checks to buy what you need having grown up on state welfare programs and i reasoned that $5 is nothing for me and my husband because combined we bring in over six figures a year income.

my mom would rather have died than get hepititis

so last week my mother arrived early to baby sit while i was getting ready for work.

we started chatting and she mentioned the wt for that week and how it was about children- well it just so happens i actually read that article here on jwd so i actualy knew what she was talking about and even marked it up with my own comments should i ever have the chance to express them.

so i'm fired up and i say to my mom "if your mom was a jw you really wouldn't be here because you would have died without that blood transfusion" .

We also have to consider that blood is screened much better now then before. The chances of getting a disease from a transfusion is extremely low.

I had a similar discussion with my mom on that same topic. She miscarried and lost over half of her volume but lived because she was blessed by god for sticking to her beliefs. When I asked her if that would happen to every JW that refused blood she did not have an answer. I got the standard we have to have faith that JH knows whats best for us.

It's hard to "box" with someone who won't even get into the ring with you.

When a panhandler has a cell phone ring in thier pocket I see that as a clue. Our local news media has done several stories about people who panhandle and make very good money at it. They have hidden camera footage of them leaving and getting into a $50k car and driving home to a $1/2 mil. house.

Most people around here donate to missions and foodbanks so they know it's getting to those who really need it.

What is really pathetic is there is a food bank right next to the local car licensing agent in my town. I see so many people comming out of the food bank and getting into a car that is worth much more then mine. I don't know thier story but on the surface it infuriates me to see people "working" the system. It's hard to donate even to food banks when I see that.

Birthdays

have any of you noticed how birthdays make you feel?

mine is ignored by my jw sister but when she turned 60 she called me the day before, the day and the day after wanting some kind of recognition.. why should i acknowledge hers when she ignores mine.

it does feel lonesome when the day comes and goes without a call or anything from the jw relatives.. i should be thankful that my hubby and children are not and have never been mixed up in that junk, but my sister is older than me and when i was born and she was so happy to have a little sister.
