  santa's workshop has been busy this year.

  i decided that all my gifts would be either handmade or bought from small "ma & pop" businesses.

  no stores with the last names of "mart" got any of my money this year.. .

  Thanks! It would have been easier and faster just to go to Wally-World but I got alot of requests for handmade items. I started before Thanksgiving and still have a coupel left. I also have a gallon of sour apple liquer to bottle up from apples off my place and alot of coffee to roast.

  Momzcrazy, our houses sound almost similar except mine is mostly rustic frontier themed. There is forged iron all over the place along with misc. woodworking projects.

  Darkuncle29, I forge mostly carbon steel knives but I also have alot of 150-200 year old iron with the silicas impurites that when etched looks like woodgrain. This is the propane forge I just built last summer. This is my fouth forge and each one gets bigger and produces more heat. I can prop the lid open for longer stock and it also gets hot enough to forge weld and smelt iron. I cut down an 80 gal air compressor tank for the body and lined it with minrox 3000 furnace cememnt and insulwool. It has a 90 CFM blower with electronic speed control.

  Alot of people on my list are very much into candles so I got to play with a few different designs I came up with. Me and my daughter hand dipped all the beeswax candles.

  

  

  

  

  

  Scotch broom from off of my place. It's an obnoxious plant with awsome wood.

  

  Vine maple from off of my place. I cut most of it up for firewood until I noticed the very fine prismatic grain.

  

  Old growth Douglas fir limb from a tree off of my place. The tree is three feet across and over 100 feet tall.

  Three years ago I saw a perfect criss-cross/tic tac toe pattern over the Cascades one night at around 10:00 PM. It was a clear night and the moon was at 3/4 so it was very visible. It did not correspond to any flight patterns that I normally see. I have read some strange disturbing info about them but it is one of those topics that has many questions and few answers.

  COULD YOU HANDLE LIFE ALONE?

  if you mate died suddenly or left you, could you handle life alone?

  would you remain single or get married again?

  i ask this because my brother in law's witness mom just died recently, and we're wondering how his dad is going to handle life alone now.

  Snowbird and Aquagirl, thanks for the support! If it turns out cancerous at least it will have been caught very early, most of the time it's found way too late. I always try to stay positive.

  I will be finding out tomarrow or friday if my wife has ovarian cancer or not. So yes I have given alot of thought about not having a wife and my daughter not having a mom. It's very scary and sobering.

  i have had a wonderful variety this day at my backyard feeders.

  i enjoy them.. pileated woodpecker.. downey woodpecker.. cardinal.. red-breasted nuthatches.. white breasted nuthatches.. junkos.

  We have alot of owls also but they are tough to photograph since they only come out after sunset.

  My wife has at least a dozen bird feaders up so I think half of all the birds west of the Rockies are here. We also have a patch about 50' from the house that put out cracked corn and small sunflower seeds for the Chinese ringneck pheasants.

  And of course in the spring and summer we have the hummer feeders out and have hundreds visiting all day.

  How Would You Feel?

  i realize that this has already happened to some of you, but it is a new experience for me.

  a mutual friend put me in touch with old jw friends and family from my former congregation who have exited the organization.

  I am in contact with several of them. It seems once you find them you start to find more of them that you may have lost touch with. It turns out some of my closest friends are ex-JW's.
