I like boating and I not only have boat insurance but also medical insurance. It's called responsibilty.
BTW, people over 65 are covered by medicare, no need for execution. Bad example. People that smoke in my state are allready paying some hefty taxes to offset the health expenses they rack up from not having insurance.
Your argument is from a philosophic standpoint and mine is from medical experience. If you would have seen what I have after working 15 yrs in emergency medical services you would understand where I am comming from. You at least owe it to yourself to visit your nearest head injury rehabilitation center and experience first hand what a persistant vegetative state is. It's horrible. Feeding tubes, diapers, bed sores, muscle atrophy (shrinkage), it's a long nasty list. You are not really alive but not dead either.
I would never want that to happen to you or anyone else and often times it can be prevented.

Head injury care and rehabilitation is a long and very expensive journey. All too often riders do not have medical insurance and subsequently become a burden on the taxpayers. I have no problem with people that enjoy risky and dangerous sports. Just don't ask me the taxpayer to pay for it when something goes wrong.
If you want to ride without a helmet then get medical insurance or post a $1,000,000 medical care bond with the dept. of licensing and ride like the wind.

And considering every product on every store shelf is also going to cost more it's not just painful at the pumps. I hope everyone grabs some oil stocks to hedge/offset the impact of future spikes. They will happen again.

Back when I rode not only did I wear a helmet but also a foam cervical collar. Helmets protect your brain at lower speed impacts but they also multiply the force on your neck. So you crash and escape a closed head injury but end up a quadraplegic. The C-collar also kept that little spot on my throat warm and protected from insect collisions. Anyone that has taken a bee at 65 MPH to the throat knows what I am talking about.

Second: Though a man is the sum of his parts, isn't it unfortunate that instead of honoring a man for his life, what he stood for, and the good he accomplished, some feel a desire to fillet his intentions at the gravesite?
It tells alot about a person when they stoop to that level.

greetings, friends:.

this weekend i helped a friend - a professional photographer - with his photo shoot of nearly 200 little leaguers.

i was apprehensive beforehand as the paperwork (my job) can easily go wrong and i hate crowds.. well, everything went well and i discovered two things: .

That's almost a topic for another thread. My experience so far has been great with all the parents. We chat with parents from both teams and congradulate thier kids for a goal or good play. I am sure in the higher leagues the competition gets more intense thus bringing out the ugly in some of them.
But I blame the parent(s) and not the sport for that dysfunction. I am sure thier behavior is less then stellar in other areas also besides just the game.

an article i saw in the detroit free press about a month ago.

frank buckles at age 107 is the sole surviving u.s. veteran of world war i. there were 4 million american veterans of the first world war and frank is the only one left.

interesting, the term that the article uses in the 3rd paragraph: "it will salute a generation that led the nation through a great war, a great depression, a great renewal.".
