The UK (imperial) gallon is not the same as the us gallon, it is in fact larger, 1 uk gallon = 1.2 US gallon. Even so petrol (gas) in the UK is very expensive due to high taxation, same with cigarettes.
In the Euro zone the high rate of that currency versus the US dollar cushions to a great extend the impact of high petroleum prices. Today 1 Euro = $1.57! -

Hedge your gas consumption "losses" and put your money into FSENX, an energy index fund. At least that way you'll get some of the profits in the long run!

I bought domestic oil stock 9 years ago. That way my money just makes a circe back to me.

I think everyone is feeling the crunch with the gas prices.

Last night after I paid bills I ranted in a pm to another poster here. You're only in a recession if you don't own oil stocks! How few of us is that?
Things are going to get even leaner. Don't you love election years.
