Can't stop hating....
by ex-nj-jw inmy parents became jw's in the early 60's just before i was born.
i was raised as a jw but hated everything about it from a very early age.
going door to door was the worst growing up.

Your story is almost indentical to mine right down to the last detail. I have moved on but the hatred I have for the JW's and even my parents is still very much there and it appears it always will be. It comes down to either it controlling you or you controlling it. Controlling it is the easier path and it is a day-to-day journey. Jumping into the real life and all of the real realities is a good start. Develop a social network of real honest friends and look up other former JW's. When you find them talk and then talk some more.
Life has kept me busy enough that I have less and less time to dwell on the un-changable past. Getting involved with social type hobbies will open up new people to become adopted "family". There is always a period of time that you can potentially spiral into a destructive chemical based reality. That is one of the bumps in the road that can be turned into a growth lesson.
I have not found any easy answers yet but when I do I will post them. You have to "create your day" or someone else will do it for you.

Been @ work 18 hours now - its 230 am (AUST)
by misspeaches ini've been at work since 8am yesterday morning (sunday) and it is now 230am monday morning.
i've been here all bloody day and i am exhausted.... i hate my job right now... now hopefully our management will listen to us when we say we are understaffed.. i'll probably be at work for another hour at least... and i want to go home and cuddle my hubby and my puppy... .
i could just cry... i'm so tired of all this work.

I used to work in emergency medical services and pulled 15-18 24 hr shifts each month. When you are on hour 19 and have only eaten once you should never be involved in emergent patient care. My wife is still working 16 hr shifts but is much happier then when we had 24's to do.
I am still amazed at how many private and public EMS providers are still running 24 hr shifts. How many of you would want a paramedic taking care of you that has not slept or eaten over the last 20-23 hrs? That should be enough to scare nearly everyone, I know the mistakes that happen on a daily basis because I made a quite a few myself.

Alot of my friends are there allready and have saved me a seat and ordered me a beer. Right now they are looking at thier watches and thinking that I might just be running late or there is alot of traffic.

If you are a JW kid then that is a very powerful argument for home schooling. My entire childhood memories are of being made fun of and being picked for being a JW at school. I would never put my child through that for any reason whatsoever. If you are going to raise your child in a freakoid cult then you have an obligation to prevent the horrid abuse they will encounter in a public school.
I will never forgive my parents for thier attitude of "buck up and take it", "That is the persecution the bible prophisied about". This is my all time favorite one "Be glad it's happening because it means the great tribulation is near". I wish that as a kid I did need a blood transfusion and did not get one and died.
If I had the ability or the means to condem my parents to eternal hell I would do it in heartbeat. It is beyond sick and twisted to subject a child to that and not even have the humanity to ever apologize. My mom is 64 and has had many decades to wake up and leave them.
There comes a certain time that I can no longer forgive and blame it on the Borg anymore. If you can remain an active JW for 64 years then it's because you are enjoying the sickness and deriving a demented, twisted pleasure out of it.

I feel bad about being a part of this...
by sibboleth inseveral years ago, approx 1995, i was a newbie elder - age 29 and was just doing the "yes man" duties around the hall.
there was the overbearing po who was the "king" of the congo and whatever he said was gospel... if he didn't like you - you were history... needless to say - i kissed his butt and moved up the ladder quite easily.
we had another newbie elder - in his late 40's - and he was a smart man.

It's horrible to hear these stories but at least it serves as a flashing neon sign to all in or out of the Borg just how screwed up of a religion it really is. It can only work to accelerate the awakening of those who who are still in but have a functioning concience.
Welcome to the forums! Having former elders is real asset to all of us here. So many more questions can be answered then from those of us that were R&F peons who were kept in the dark.

Our living room is all frontier and rustic looking very much like a ski lodge. There are a few frontier knives, tomahawks I have made on display and oil lamps. Above our woodstove there is a mantle with trinkets from the early 1800's. There is also an oak and glass display case with meteorites, mammoth tusks, fossils, gold nuggets that I have found prospecting and arrowheads we found on our place.
If Jim Bowie or Davy Crocket hired an interior decorater then it would look like our living room. I do alot of blacksmithing so some of my work is also displayed around the house. It is all very simple and "earthy" but far from "gay".

I got baptized to shut everyone up and to look like better "hubby material" to some of the chicks. Niether reason worked very good but I had to at least try. That's all a steer can do is try.

When is it 'going too far'?

i have a question involving my girlfriend and i, and i'm hoping to find a moral answer.
my girlfriend and i fell in love two summers ago, and we're still pretty young (we're turning 17 this year).

My wife and I were under that impression also until something un-expected happened. Her name is Jessica and she just turned eight a few weeks ago. Apparently there are a few storks that are now using sophisticated laser guidance in order to defeat latex based ground defenses. You can put a cap over your chimney but a highly trained and experienced stork can still drop a baby down with pinpoint accuracy.
