I was almost hit by a Tacoma cop that blew a stop sign while on the cell phone. If I had left from my office two seconds ealier I would have been smacked into.

I really like pounding on orange hot steel and forming it into different shapes. For me it's a way to go back in time before Flow jets, lathes, CNC and plasma cutters. Blacksmithing is a disappearing art and only a small handfull of people are still doing it.

My mom was convinced that I would never have to start school. Now my daughter is in second grade and I love to remind my mom about that. She hates it but it keeps her from pitching me the line about how this system is going to end soon.

It's my only creative outlet since I can't write, draw, paint or sculpt. I make alot of custom knives but recently I have been making specialized tools for other blacksmiths and bladesmiths. Next month I will be getting a bigger milling machine and that should expand my capabilities alot.
This weekend I will be making a shot glass from some 160 year old wrought iron from a pre-Cival War tall ship anchor chain. Iron back then had alot of silica that was not refined out and when you etch it in acid it has a very unique grain.
What did you make mostly back when you machined?

Aside from how dangerous it is I find it very annoying when someone in front of me is only going half the speed limit. Or the light turns green and they are busy texting, it's very rude and inconsiderate to others.
The same people that insist that they can drive just fine after drinking are very often the same ones who say they can yak or text on thier cell phones without any problems. They are dilusional and ignorant.

Gas is still cheaper then bottled water and I get a whole lot more from a gallon of gas then water. I don't see anyone protesting the cost of bottled water. If I don't like buying bottled water I can settle for tap water but I can not get gas to come out of my faucet.
I drive 60 miles round trip to my office which burns 1.75 gallons of gas. That is about $8 to go 60 miles in comfort, rain or shine uphill or down. It still beats walking or riding a bike.
We have to keep everything in perspective.
