Thanks everyone, your comments are much appreciated, maybye i should take a few days to think about it, I've just been panicking thinking I have to decide what to do right away.
Thanks for your suggestion yknot I have had a quick look earlier, I might have another. We had discussed this happening quite a while ago and both agreed abortion would be the best option, but now it's hapened I don't think that feels right for me.
I'm glad things worked out for you Black sheep, I wish I hadn't gotten baptised, it would be a much easier decision! I'm sure a lot of people wish the same thing :)

Do you believe you have a particular purpose in life?
by journey-on ini ask this because as a jw, you are programmed to think your only purpose is to preach the good news of the kingdom....period.
but more and more, i've noticed in my own life a strong pull toward something i won't elaborate on, but it has me thinking that maybe we really do each have a particular purpose and it's up to us to discover what it is.
i know i'm kind of new to the forum, but please let me know if any of you have experienced this same kind of unusually strong pull toward something you can't fully explain.
-
Cass
I'm not sure, I don't really feel that I was born with a purpose,
I've always felt that life is so very pointless, but then I've always believed (or hoped most likely) that there must be some overall purpose for everyone as a collective, don't know what or whose it is.
Anyway, I realise not everyone has such a pessimistic view of this life as I do
so, I have made it my purpose in life to help other people to be happy and feel that their life means something.

Kind of Neat... for me at least.
by RichieRich inso its no surprise to most of the people here, but i stretch my earlobes.. and i just reached sort of a big milestone, for me i guess.. i made it to an inch.. that's 25 mm, for you crazy not americans stuck on the metric system.. and considering the original hole was exactly 1 mm in diameter, i just think its cool i increased the size by 25 times.. now if only i could stretch my bank account.. .

Cass
Aaaawww I thought I was cool coz i finally got my nose pierced
How much further are you going to stretch them? How much can you stretch them before they wont go back?
looks like your past that

Bible Reading - Jeremiah 5
by metaspy inok this is kinda twisted.. a brother in my old hall, used to always complain that he got the 'bad' bible readings.. for instance, he got this weeks reading - it include jer 5:8.. who really wants to say that from the stage?.
i got thinking, how many times does the wts have us read that verse when we are in jeremiah?.
out of the 5 times we have read jeremiah in the last 20 years, 3 of those the wts had some poor shmuck of a brother reading 5:8..

Cass
Haha yeah, i always feel sorry for the 15/16 y/o kids that have to do those readings,
they are so obviously uncomfortable given the environment they're in.

Such a simple question
by 5thGeneration inan elder friend just asked me the most simple question.. "if you had all the power, would you still let the world be like this?"..
i answered "of course not".. then he just said "hmmm"..
-
Cass
Sorry about that above
" If a parent always steps in to save the kid the building blocks are not layed down and they will always need rescued from their bad choices. Pain & hurt are usually the fastest teachers in life (self preservation)."
I agree with that to a certain degree,
but if my children were being raped, murdered, tortured, living in poverty, starving to death ... I don't think I would let that happen if i could stop it.
Especially if it was through no fault of their own (as individuals)

'No such thing as disfellowshipping or disassociating now'
by needproof ini heard it said recently on this forum that there was no such thing now as disfellowshipping or disassociating.
you are either a jw or not... is this correct?
and how much should i read into the thing about 'not talking to the inactive' now, as per advice given at the latest assembly?
-
Cass
Hi, was just thinking, the reason i avoided inactive ones is because i thought that they might just need some space and their own time to work things out,
i didn't want to seem pushy or come across as having a holier-than-thou attitude.
Heaps of people on here have mentioned being ignored and avoided but maybye it's not always done with bad intentions.

Has anyone ever been "outed" due to posting on JWD?
by nvrgnbk inbeing the paranoid, inactive, with alot of family and "friends" still in the org.
i'm sure it's been discussed before but i don't recall reading on that topic here on jwd.
i know that fear prevented me from posting while i was exiting as an elder.

Hey, this is probably not a lot of help, but it's something I had been wondering till I asked.
Round 2 with the elders about a week ago, they were on about how dangerous it is to associate with my 'apostate' friends, I'll loose my family, they are evil.....
Anyway I just asked if I continue associating with them can I be disfellowshipped? The answer... NO!!
They said It can lead to being 'marked' (didn't realise they still did that!) but unless you start promoting 'apostate' ideas you're o.k, they might just make life a bit more difficult, you know meeting with the elders and people avoiding you.
So I suppose it depends on what you''re going to post and the details you give out.
