We always had a vote from the cong. as to whether or not we would pay for the C.O......Everyone always voted yes, but it wasn't set in stone that the cong. had to pay for him.

Why do the local congregations always pay for the D.O. and C.O. visits?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inevery time a circuit and district overseer visited our congregation, the elders always wanted a show of hands from the congregation to see if we would pay for their car expenses and travel.sometimes the congregation would pay for airline tickets.it was always approved.. do you know if the idea came from the local congregations to pay?
did the wts send out letters to each congregation to see if they would pay?
we know that the wts always get what they want.. it's amazing how we paid $250-$400 for each overseer visit and the wts paid nothing..

Views of worldy folk as a witness
by fifi40 ini bring this subject up because personally i dont get it.. i have noticed that some posters use words such as 'evil' or 'stinking goats' to describe the view (either their own adopted view or that of the jw org) they had of worldly people whilst a jehovahs witness.. the reason i find this difficult to understand is because i never felt that way toward 'people of the world' whislt being a believer of of the teachings of the jw organisation.
and i didnt pick up on it being rammed down my throat by the org either.
now i wonder if i was ignorant of something, not paying enough attention or if it is just each individuals approach toward life that makes the difference.. what were your views of 'people of the world and why?.

The main attitude expressed from the platform was that they are going to be killed in armaggeddon so what would be the purpose of becoming attached to people and things that are temporary and could possibly hinder your "progress" in Jehovah's service. Most dubs took it a few steps further and held worldly people in contempt.

Does it really happen???
by Lumptard ini'm sure it can happen, but how many of you were or know of people who were disfellowshipped for using the wt society's own old literature and under what "bible principle" are they able to disfellowship???
i can't think of any off the top of my head.....

Mariusuk:
They can't disfellowship w/out citing a bible principle. Even if they misapply/stretch the meaning of a principle to suit their own agenda they still have to cite a principle that has been broken. I'm just curious which one they cite in this case or if a person could even be disfellowshipped for coming to conclusions based on old literature.

Satanists?
by Lumptard inare there any practicing satanists on the board?
i've been doing some reading about satanism and i'd like some personal experiences...it seems like it is less about god/satan and more about the self above all...am i right?

Counting/requesting time how is that based on the Bible?
by restrangled inafter reading auld soul's thread on babtism and the request for over year for any one to justify the wbts' requirements based on scripture,...(with no answer), i started to wonder what are the requests for numbers from the wbts based on.. did christ request a certain amount of time every month for preaching to qualify for what he promised?
did he count those attending his sermons to justify what he was preaching?
what about the so called "pioneer" program?
