Daughter of an ex witness and a re-instated witness.....
by LotusB inmy parents divorced when i was 12. their divorce was so messy and upsetting that it threw my mother for a loop that none of the elders came to her aide.
she has been distant and negetive towards jw's for almost ten years since.
my father was re-instated after an almost 20 year apsence and is now happily attending meetings with his new family.

Welcome LotusB
You've gotta do what you've gotta do, just don't let fear of the future cloud your rational judgement of whether or not to associate yourself and conform your life to the JWs. Make sure that whatever decision you make is based soundly on what you feel is right for you and not based on fear or superimposed guilt.

Need advice from elders, former elders and anyone else for that matter.....
by nonamegiven inok, i've been df'd for 5 months or so now and i'm getting ready to write a letter requesting reinstatment.
i'm assuming something like "i know jah has already forgiven me so now i"m asking you imperfect sinners to forgive me my sins and give me my life back please".
wouldn't work.

Whatever you write, make sure to include that you will never do whatever it is that you got DFd for again. A friend of mine sent his first letter w/out it and they didn't accept it. Delayed reinstatement for a year. Doesn't matter if it's a lie or not...If your ultimate goal is reinstatement.

Is the word Jehovah really a name?
by zack ini ask this because jesus referred to god as: my lord, my father, my god.
he never used the word jehovah.
to me that if anyone would use the name, certainly jesus would.

It's a hebrew term to reference their creator god. Jehovah is just an approximation of the tetragrammeton in english.

See Awakes critical view of doctorine change in OTHER faiths! HYPOCRITES!!!
by Lady Liberty inrecently shadow posted this on another topic, however it is so good i felt it deserved it's own thread.
remember when you are reading this that the watchtower wants all of us to ignore our questions regarding change within the organization.
calling it new light.

Anti-witnessing
by Highlander induring my time as a j-dub, it was encouraged to take every opportunity to informal witness with people.
a good example would be to witness to a co-worker.. i avoided this as much as possible when i was a dub.
if the topic of religion came up at work i would try to change the topic or gracefully exit the conversation.. now that i'm far removed from this cult, i find myself taking every opportunity i can to anti-witness against the j-dubs.

I don't anti-witness...I figure, if an adult chooses a certain way of life, then they are fully capable of making that decision and they should live with it...however, if someone tries to witness to me about things that I know are not true, or if they try to base something on the bible that is not correct, then I will tell them what I know...not to try to convince them that what they beleive is wrong, but to let them know that they are relaying a message that can be disputed with logic and truth. Wheter they accept it or not is not of my concern.
