Is it just because i was raised a JW?

yesterday (sunday) we went to our daughters church for family service as they have these at the end of each term for the kids club (sunday school) and if you don't know about my beliefs that i don't have any and i am one not wanting to have anything to do with any religion.. anyway there are a few things that caught my attention during this service as i normally tune out but they were talking about how jesus was telling a parragul (sp?

) about sowing the seeds and then it all came flooding back of the memories about how the jw used this, and you know it was strange as this church was saying things almost identical to what the jw would say.. this is not what i was wanting to mention but i thought this was interesting.. so after all the service they have a morning tea for everyone afterward and i got talking to the minister/father/pastor (don't know what the head person called) wife and the subject come about christmas and i told her that this was not as important as when jesus died and that he wasn't even born on 25th december she was taken back that he was not born on this day as i told her he was born earlier in the year and i explained how this is the reason, she was gob smacked!.

i thought this was common knowledge so i wonder if she will go back to her husband and ask questions if this is true.. so i ask the question is it common knowledge that jesus was not born on this day and it is a pagan holiday or is it a jw thing.

I would love to have the choice and range of religions but i am in a VERY small town and it comprises of Catholic, anglican, prestbyrian and JW!.

So to choose a religion for my daughter to go to is really hard unless i want to make a 2hour round trip to the next largest town for something i really don't care for.

I don't think so!

The reason this ministers wife was gob smacked is that she only knew that jesus was born on Dec 25 she knew no different.

I'm sure one day it will all sort itself out.

I am going through the process now to expain to my daughter why the JW are the way they are in regards to Df people!

today, i don't fear the elders as much, and i think that they fear me more.. how about you, how has 10 years made you better or stronger?.

10 years ago i was nearing my 21st birthday!

I would have been married almost 3 years.

I had just lost my first child and my father in law with in months of each other.

I was insecure within my relationship to my hubby.

I had close friends and partied HARD!!!

But now things are clearer i made a promise to myself on 31st dec 2006 that 2007 was going to be about me!

I have a clearer head a better outlook on life even if things are not so well.

I am happy to be ME! And i am working on a better ME!

Does looks matter much to you?

what importance do you place in the looks of a friend, or lover?.

does the interior stand out more than the exterior shell which is skin deep?.

Not really.

Yes they are important to a certain extent but you have to look at the inner beauty as well.

Its nice to have a pretty/handsome person hanging off your arm when you are younger but don't forget if you are planning to be with this person for the rest of your life that they wil not always look like that later in life.

My biggest clique is that i love men with long hair but i ended up with a wonderful guy who has been bald since he was 16 years old.

I just look at it well i know what he will look like later on in life with no hair.

I honestly don't see it.

Difficult to build faith up at church after leaving WTS

how many of you who decided to remain christian and started to go to church had a hard time building your faith back up again after leaving the wts?

i'm having a hard time.

it's been 4 months since i began attending the penticostal assembly of god church in my town, and i love it.

I have no desire to be affliated with any religion.

I have been out of the JW for a long time and i don't wish to have anything to do with any religion.

Though i have to say i recently went to my daughters church (anglican) and listened to what the preacher was saying.

It just brought back so many memories and it was like listening to the JW he used the exact same parrables (sp?)

I now refuse to go to the family service every 3 months.

I guess i just don't care about much of anything to do with ANY religions. To me they are about the same with slight variable differences.

All i worry about is having the basic things in life and looking after number one. ME!

Hi everyone, it's great to be back

thankyou so much for all the good wishes you have sent us in the last few days, trev has been printing up the emails, pms and threads, and bringing the cards to show me every day, and i get a lift every time i see him coming in with more of your lovely messages to read.. it's been a tough time for both of us, and it won't get any easier.

i am dreading chemo, to be honest, but i have to bear it, as i would anything that gives me hope.

but that's for monday, and i am going to enjoy myself as much as i can this weekend.

Full Circle. . .

its odd to me when and where things change for me.

this last friday i went out with friends and a cousin i hadnt seen in over a year.

i also went out in a part of town i hadnt spent time in for years.

Isn't it great when you can get back to basics and find your inner self.

Being in a place that you can really feel settled in can make all the difference on how you see things.

You may have a lot of resentment, etc. that you need to process and heal from.

I just feel that i never had a choice in what i wanted to be but then again i did have a choice in being baptised as a JW but this was for different reasons other than wanting to be a JW and i truely never believed.

You also need to be careful of how you answer your daughter's questions regarding religious beliefs of the church she currently attends. Are you giving her a uniquely JW perspective? What you may understand as "a matter of fact" may be just what the JWs taught you, and not how it really happened or "should be".

I answer her questions in an everyday veiw not as an JW opinion i can think outside the square.

I believe that Jesus's life was for a purpose other than just dieing for us what he taught and his life actually meant something for ALL of us.

He has great teachings.
