Hi everyone! im also a newbie here.
by dhand inhi everyone, thought it was time to say hi after nearly a year lurking on this site!!
abit about me... i was born into the jw's and have been baptised for about 15yrs and was appointed as an ms about a year ago.
i have been a die hard jw for the last few years, but because of the arrogant and unloving attitude of certain 'spirit appointed' men within the cong and circuit i began to wounder if what i had really was 'the truth' and caused me to do some digging on some of the fundamental teachings.

WHAT-A COINCIEDNCE
Me would like to say, that while some have presented some fine points, me believes OOMPA and Quinky1 reflex good judgement.
You owe the WBTS (((((NO))))) reason for what you are doing with your life.
You only show (by sending a letter or whatever) you are playing by their rules. You are still in their control.
Be at peace with yourself and move on.
Thanks -

Where Did All the Fun Times Go?
by Amazing inwhere did all the fun times go?
i was looking at the june 1, 1985 watchtower, pg.
29-31 with its legalistic baptism vows, where one recognizes their association with gods spirit-directed organization, when i was struck by the context of the article.. essentially it gives a last minute warning about proper decorum with swim-wear used for baptism a serious and solemn occasion.

It might seem like the Europeans are paying more for gas (and they are) ..... but remember (me is told) they receive free health, free education, plus a whole lot of other benefits that the USA people have to pay out of THEIR pocket.

Go figure.
Just not a fair comparison. -

Elder: "Why are apostates ANGRY???"
by hamsterbait ini was talking to my brother, who remembered an elder who came (in the mundane sense) on a regular basis to talk to us for shepherding calls.. sadly i now realise we got all these calls on cold winter sudays, because with unbaptized kids they could count the time.
( i used to think the borg just cared more in those days).
anyway - this time he went on and on about apostates, it was just before the dc.

AllTimeJeff sir, in me's opinion, you have said it well.
Not that the others points were not good, ---- you tied the knot.
Me believes me will always remember my fellow North Carolinian poster's comment, "I am done with being bitter and twisted". In fact me has her comments cut/pasted on my USB for just this type of setting.

Just a side thought:
This reminds me of a story about a dog that left the USSR and moved over to Germany.
Why?
He wanted the freedom to ((bark)).
People leave the WBTS because they want the freedom to ((BARK))

After all the bushes have been shaken.
Me believes Dorttacular has said it well, "Mexicans, if you wanna come here, feel free! Just fill out the proper paperwork and wait your turn like the millions of legal immigrants who live in our country.
Me has had a mexican (legal) that has works for me for the past, say 25 years, and that is exactly what he says.
Me liked what BurnTheShips said also, "I quit and started school". The best thing anyone can do if he/she wants to make anything of themselves.
About two (2) years after Ishmael came to work for me me offered to pay for his college. He declined.
He does OK for himself, but he could have done better.
He is a wonderful person.

Me believe all would have to agree that all people that are in the USA are immigrants from somewhere including the so called native americans. -

How can I know for sure that the WTS isn't God's organization?
by nbernat ini go back and forth everyday.
one day i'm like, "suppress your gay feelings and what you think is wrong about this organization and keep going forward because you want eternal life and all of your friends are here and it's as close to the truth as it can possibly get so just deal with it.
" others i'm like, "live your life.

nbernat you state, after your question, How can I know for sure that the WBTS isn't God's Organization? this... "why haven't the DO's and CO's who are especially bright and so well-versed in the scriptures not figure out it's a hoax".
Please (((forgive me))) for sounding negative/judgemental.
Me has been around WBTS for more then 50 years. In that 50 years me has meet only a few DO"s and CO's that me considered bright (educated).
Me could name on my hand those that had a college education. They were/are good men. (Not saying the the rest are not good people). However, they (educated ones) are, for the most part, no longer with the WBTS.
For the most part they (DO/CO's) are men that have climbed the ladder from their teenage years. It was instilled in them that IF they were to be considered a spiritual man they had to reach out Reach out -- Reach out -- Reach out. Reach out for what --- to the next stage.
For example: Mow the lawn, clean the restrooms/hall, carry the mic's, MS, bethelite, serve where the need it greater, elders, assembly parts, BROWN NOSE (sorry), etc, etc.
In the process they (DO/CO) accepted the dogma that the WBTS was/is the ONLY true education.
All that is in their heads is WTBS dogma. Just get them on any other subject ...... well ...... they always come back to ..... it says in the Watchtower/Awake this and/or that what the governing body says.
Many have confided in me with just what Amicus said, "Those "bright" DO's and CO's might be chewing their fingernails off at night worrying that they have wasted their lives chasing an empty dream".
Why?
As others have said, they have no where else to go and few skills to earn a decent living on the outside. As long as they are still able to be on the road there is a certain amount of "glory/security" for them. Better than being in the soup lines.
Me thinkin' me talkin' too much. -

"Sprouting" ... Does anyone here do this?
by RubaDub ini didn't want to hijack the "how to save money" thread, but just wondered if anyone else here does his/her own sprouting (making sprouts from beans or seeds).. if you buy sprouts in the supermarket, they can very expensive, expecially if you like to mix 2 or 3 types within a salad.
additionally, if you don't have easy access to an asian market, the long white bean sprouts can be expensive.
locally here in miami, we pay about $2 for just a 12 ounce package.. i started sprouting my own things several years ago, not so much to save money, but more to have a fresh supply of sprouts and not have to go to the store as often.
