I always thought I was a positive person until I left. Then when I had the comparison I could see just how negative I'd become. It was really nice to give yourself permission to look at the good in the world instead of just the bad- and it was nice to see.

Jehovah's Witnesses & their cynical lust for negativity
by jambon1 infor me this is one of the most hideous things about the jw's.. it's like they are willing on the next world disaster.
they are gleeful if anyone that they know comes into some sort of trouble if they are not following 'bible standards'.
they simply aren't interested in anything good.

Most Detested WT Publication
by Nosferatu inwhat is the wt publication you hated the most (i mean besides all of them?).
mine was that faggy pink "listening to the great teacher" book.
my mother tried to teach both me and the neighbor's worldly kid lessons from that book, and you know how embarrasing it is for a boy to be put straight by a pink book?.

The Oct 2005 WT also killed it stone dead for me. I walked out early and ended up shredding that one. The infamous "don't send your kids to college" one.
Oh yeah, and the April 07 WT about how its your "sacred duty" to obey the GB. What the....???

An elder and I were working at a wealthy brother's house. He was doing some building work and I was their cleaner. The elder sidled up to me and described the wealthy brother as a, "jumped up little shit". I was a bit shocked but had to laugh, the elder was right after all.

This Disturbs Me Most of All
by cameo-d inno, it's not the "claw hand"!
what disturbs me most of all is the potter's shards.. any coin collector will tell you that the "imperfect" coins are the most valuable.
any art historian will tell you that the value of a painting is it's originality and uniqueness and the talent that can only come with time, suffering, and perserverence.. it is the oddities and quirks in one of a kind pieces that make them a delight and a treasure.. so why is it that this potter has no appreciation for uniqueness?

I'm with scully on this. Many JW's would baulk at physically having to kill us, but they would do it if the GB told them that Jehovah required it. Lets face it, many JW's baulk at shunning, they don't like doing it, but they still do precisely because the GB has told them jehovah requires it. Killing us is just the next step.
If the law allowed them to do this half of us would be dead and the rest in hiding.

Its so gotta be the Rev book for me. Those bloody pictures and all that fitting of scriptures to JW history - total bull. Still, its a handy publication to have around if you run out of toilet paper.

In australia I answered up one time in a FS group about people not knowing their neighbours very well. The elder, an old fella, a trueblue, jumped down my throat and said "what do YOU know about it, you're just a pommie sister" in front of everyone. I was really embarassed.
