" Oh well, don't worry, many have gotten AIDS and returned to the congregations"
Said by a CO on my sofa as I revealed my son is gay.
i have a few which still either anger me, make me sad or just make me grateful that i am no longer one of them.
1 - "well, everyone is going to die anyway, so if it at armageddon then ce la vie" 2 - "the disater today at the world trade centre is sad, but exciting" 3 - (an elder) "when armageddon happens, i want to be at a window, watching it all".
sick, sick, sick!

have you ever noticed how in the kingdom halls who have a mix of races, you find the whites sit in one area of the kingdom hall, and the blacks have their own section?
the district conventions and circuit assemblys too.
i've noticed one particular section where there were just black people who made up about 20% of the dc and the rest were white.
The only problem I encountered was in Australia. The PO would refer to the english brothers as pommies from the platform which got the backs up of a few there. Mind you, the PO was true blue and wanted to keep Australia that way - old school mentality.
Other than that, not a problem I ever saw
many are not sure or deny that wts is a dangerous mind-control cult.
here is some food for thought on the "dangerous mind-control" part of that.
(cut and pasted from http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=122936768817 jehovah's disfellowshipped witnesses/facebook).
I'd like to thank Angel Eyes for the practical demonstration of one whose under mind control. I give a "g" for good but perhaps you need to work on "material adapted to suit your audience" next.
it hasn't been till the last couple of months that i have even given a passing thought to jw apologists.
as welcome as they are to post their opinions, i am struck by something that i recognize in myself and others as i reflect on my jw past.. basically, there comes a certain point, where if you are going to stay a jw and you are of a bit more "liberal" mindset, that you will try to change the focus a bit.. i recall this happened to me.
as a ms, i was very gung ho for most jw dogma and ways of dealing with people.
Jehovah's Witnesses in fact have earned every bit of their bad reputation. The only people who seem unaware of it are Jehovah's Witnesses themselves,
I want that on a T-shirt. Nice one Jeff.
<< part vi.
part vii not the end or the beginning.
as mentioned previously i was starting to travel more frequently to the us on business, specifically los angeles.
A pleasure to get to "know" you Paul. Your personal happiness speaks louder to your JW relatives than any words will. Fantastic!

Thanks for these quotes OTWO. I've just started a college course in Psychology and you've helped me to demonstrate how the manipulation of JW thinking takes place. Printed out and ready for class - thanks!
the wts was smart enough to not setup a forum on their site.
they knew too much of the truth would come out!.
google has released a simple solution to this little problem: google sidewiki.
I want to add an entry but the link "sign in the write an entry" doesn't work. Anyone know how to make it live?
So Stephen are you saying ALL (Every single one) is denied salvation?
Thats a good question Ynot, I hope you don't mind me interjecting here.
I thought the scriptures Stephen posted were very good and made the point well, however we can't judge others, we can only surmise.
I personally know JW's who are loving and kind by nature but the Society require them to put aside this natural tendancy to follow rules instead. Hence the shunning policy. So who is accountable? The one making the rules or the one following them to the letter?
I can't help but think at this point about the trials at Nuremberg after the war. Ordinary German men and women went on trial for horrendous war crimes and much of their defence was based on "we were only following orders". The judges at these trials dismissed such a defence based on our inbuilt conscience. They claimed that their personal conscience should have stopped them from committing such crimes despite the personal danger or threats they were under from their superiors.
In this way I can't help but wonder what defence a JW would offer when standing in front of Jesus Christ on judgement day. Can they honestly say that "we were only following orders" is going to be an adequate defence for their lack of love?
Yes JW's have been manipulated and lied to, yes they've been the victims of propaganda, yes they've got many years invested in this and yes, they could face punishment and sanctions for disobeying. But the Nazis at Nuremberg could say the same.
If a human judge can see that more weight should be given to a persons conscience, how much more weight would the Judge of us all give to it?
All I can say is I'm thankful Jesus Christ judges all of us (JW's included) as individuals and can read hearts, motives and mitigating circumstances as individuals, something a human judge is less able to do.
i saw this on a yahoo group.
this is an interesting speculation that ray franz would have caused a schism in 1980 if he had prevailed.
likely bogus, as there is no clear parallel.
Good point Bangalore
Typical WT tactic. Slander Ray Franz to make their actions seem right. May God forgive them for their lies.

As they can't control this they'll probably remove themselves from the whole internet. It'll be noolite from Jah to "get out of her"
