  If the Bible "can only be understood" with the magazine, then it's the magazine that counts, not the other way around.

  Thats very true. The Society have made it clear that they don't want JW's studying the bible without the "aid" of Watchtower literature. Those that do will likely revert back to the teachings of Christendom.

  Will the Book Study ever be dropped from the weekly meetings?

  the book study is one of the most useless meetings.

  the same books have been studied 3 or 4 times.the meeting takes only an hour but takes up most of your evening.

  and, it is one of the least attended meetings.. why haven't they combined the watchtower study with just question and answer and then follow with the book study with just question and answer?

  Many in my old cong are really pissed that the book study is no more. Its now incorporated into the Service meeting which is held on a Wednesday night. This stops most of the dubs from taking advantage of the "2 for 1" Orange Wednesdays deal at the cinema and I get a shun-free trip to the movies - result!

  this is probably old news but i just opened up rutherfords book delieverance printed in 1926. the year before i was born....in the preface he explains.

  that the logos & lucifer are brothers,.

  on page 214 talking about false prophets ( churches) he says "claiming for themselves the exclusive.

  "Encouragement" from my mother-in-law to my wife

  my wife did not attend the holiday celebrations with my daughter and i and instead chose to spend the time with her parents.

  she told her mom how she saw nothing wrong with the holiday celebrations and my m-i-l told her that she was right in that the things people do this time of year are very beautiful indeed.

  however, it is the reason why people do these things why we are not suppose to partake in them.

The key part of that, is what Christ told you to do and the example he set. Not some group of men who decided to speak on behalf of an Entity they dont seem to really have a firm grasp of a relationship with. They have more of a relationship with their organization and It's interests, than they do with God and his Son.

  Of course you are right about this, but as you are still an active JW you need to be careful who you express this opinion to. Mouthy (Grace Gough) was disfellowshipped for holding this very opinion.

  Also if you continue to align yourself with a group that speaks falsely in God's name, takes on an authority that isn't theirs to take based on these dates, and are more concerned with their precious organization than their relationship with God, how does God view your continued support of them now that you know they're wrong?

  wow HB, I just looked up that proclaimers quote and it beggers belief! Here it is verbatim.

  "They also came to understand that it was in the year 1914 that Christ’s invisible presence had begun and that this was, not by his personally returning (even invisibly) to the vicinity of the earth, but by his directing his attention toward the earth as ruling King."

  Directing his attention!!!! What are these guys on?? So they make the complete assumtion that Christ "directed his attention toward the earth" based on - what?

  The Great War? The preaching work? The invention of sewing machines and locomotives?

  What a load of crock!

  And how come in 1914 they were still teaching Christ "returned" in 1874!

  Considerning all the scriptures describe the return of Christ as very loud, highly visible and swift, how on earth can the WT continue to spout this tripe and get away with it? I'd hate to be in their shoes when Jesus does get here.
