  Last Night's Intervention

  i'm afraid of starting a new post because i've stepped on a few feet here with my last post... but i still love you guys.. last night i went home to find my wife and her friend on the couch with the bible, ready to show me how i'm wrong and exercising "apostate thinking".

  my wife said, "i am unable to fight you with the bible because you know more than me about it.

  but k** knows more and will be able to show you how you are wrong.. so my wife went into the other room so as not to be stumbled by my discussion.

  Deut 18 makes no distinction between making an original prophesy or interpreting one already existing. Its just says if you claim to speak for God and your message doesn't come true - you're a false prophet.

  Do the Watchtower claim to speak for God? Yes. They claims to speak exclusively for God, claims to be Spirit-directed by Him. They offer those "predictions" up as New Light from Jehovah many millions of times over, on a worldwide stage and then bring into question a brother's faithfulness and spirituality if he dares to voice doubts in the latest understanding with a possible outcome of being disfellowshipped and shunned.

  Your clear desire to twist the Deut scripture tells everyone here that you are still captive to that basic concept that the WT Society is God's Organization, a concept that MUST be defended by you at all costs. You see - we know how and why you think as you do - we've all been there.

  how do you overcome this?

  i just got done reading isocf and toward the end ray warns against bitterness.

  i guess i just can't agree with that.

  I don't think you are bitter, I think you're angry - and rightly so!. Allow yourself to be angry as its fully justified. They DESERVE your anger!!! But the anger will pass and then you'll be able to move on.

  Yay for Spain the best team won! Holland played a dirty game and deserved their bookings, I'm surprised more of their players werent sent off. De Jong's tackle was just plain BAD.

  commentary on mp3s: (in addition to circulate as you see fit!).

  in light of the wts's recent attempts to conceal it's talks from broader inspection and documentation, mp3s to the public are now mostly the works of the 'conscious class' and those exjws who force themselves to endure hours upon hours of control-laced presentations.

  Thank you SOO much Ynot! My parents only attended the Saturday sessions because of age but having listened to the "family" talk I feel quite sick that they sat there being told to "not look for excuses" to speak with me.

  Re-reading "Crisis of Conscience" again....

  the 'revelations' hit me even harder, the second time around..... i purchased two copies, the version copyrighted 1983 and the version copyrighted 2004. i kept the old version [1983] and just donated the 2004 copy to my local library - with a quick warning that 'cult' members may be inclined to steal the expose.

  i decided to read it again to try to visualize how a "worldly" person who is unacquainted with the jws would view the book.... in reading the book again, i am more forcefully struck by the blatant contradictions between the 'official' stance of the watchtower society and their 'behind-the-scenes' behavior.... chapters 3 & 4 - "governing body" and "internal upheaval and restructure" - contain some eye-popping material... the earlier portion of chapter 3 touches on the intrusive regulation of sexual practices between husband and wife [i'll bet any worldly person reading that would find that chilling, to say the least...], and then goes into the power struggles between russell's followers and rutherford's ousting of said followers during his successful bid for control.. very revealing... i was also struck by the fact that the wtbts was a religion with a single man leading it, until the very end of nathan knorr's period of leadership, despite the claims of the watchtower magazine that "god's organization" was being run by a "governing body" of spiritual "caretakers" for several years prior to the actual existence of said "governing body"!!!.

  as ray franz states, page 65 of 1983 version: "[quote from 12/15/71 watchtower...]: "thus, too, even though there were no apostles of christ on hand in the nineteenth century, god's holy spirit must have been operative toward the formation of the governing body for his anoited remnant ... the facts speak for themselves.

  I donated CofC and Christian Freedom to my library but they're either both checked out all the time or the local dubs have nicked them. I like to think the former.

  i feel a bit guilty.

  people on this forum were very friendly and helpful to me when i was in the in-between phase between brainwashing and freedom.. i also got a lot of help and advice and sympathy when i was trying to get my wife out.. but when she did leave, i forgot all about you guys, and we got on with our lives, and have never been happier.

  honestly, life is soooo damn good now, i worry i might have reached the peak and things will only get worse from here.. we are amazed at how much our children enjoy birthdays and christmas - how healthy, normal and fun these things are.

  Day 1 of the convention

  here's a brief recount of things that stood out to me this year upon my awakening...probably old hat for most of you.

  the first experience i heard was from a sister who was afraid to speak to her fleshly sisters about "the truth" and her conscience was really bothered.

  she felt horrible that they were going to die unless she shared the "truth" with them.
