  Kentucky Derby

  did any of you watch the kentucky derby yesterday?.

  yesterday i watched the kentucky derby, i am not a horse racing fan, although i do enjoy going to the races.

  we have a nice track here about an hours drive from me.. but all the hype about it being the best sporting event, me being an indy race fan, thinking that is the greatest sporting event!!!!

  A horse doesn't break two legs and finish the race, if it can feel the pain! My conclusion the horse was doped! I saw a documentary about horse racing and they said that the fines for doping are $500 to $1000 and no other punishment. I am not an animal rights activist, i just think that horses should be treated at least as humane, as the cows, pigs and chickens that we eat.

  Flu panic in your area?

  i have scanned several newspapers from different states.

  it seems some have declared a state of emergency.. many say hospitals are overflowing with people coming in for runny noses (who do not have flu, but are in a panic about it or are trying to get heavy antibiotic prescriptions).. some states have schools closing.. just wondering.... are any of you seeing any flu panic in your area?.

  30,000 people in the US die every year from the Flu.

  As I have said in a previous thread, when the death toll hits 1,000,000, I will think about, bring concerned about, this Pandemic tm .

  Horse racing should be outlawed. I remember last year, one horse broke two legs from being pushed too hard, they had to put him down on the spot. How can a civilised society allow this? Winning is all that matters, owners routinely dope the horses to try and get an advantage. The punishment if caught is a slap on the wrest.

  $350K on $1.5mil, that is 23.33% annualy. That would be $23,333 a year on a $100K house, or about $2,000 a month. Something just isn't right with those numbers, that is twice what a 15 year mortgage payment would be at 7%.

  i was just reading some old notes on the civil war - i always think of the war between north and south as it's usually depicted in movies and books..the standard plantation fare....one forgets what was going on with the rest of the war.

  could you imagine what the usa would have looked like had california/texas and arizona been able to hold their own?

  i just read this coming in from a doctor in texas.

  sammieswife.. dr. marcus gitterle, an emergency medicine physician based out of new braunfels, texas, sent out an internal alert which contains several stunning claims about swine flu that, if true, officials have presumably sought to keep from the public.. dr. marcus gitterle, an emergency medicine physician based out of new braunfels, texas, sent out an e mail alert to his patients which contains several stunning claims about swine flu that, if true, officials have presumably sought to keep from the public.. after i returned from a public health meeting yesterday with community leaders and school officials in comal county and hays county, (name removed) suggested i send an update to my patients in the area, because what we are hearing privately from the cdc and health department is different from what you are hearing in the media, writes gitterle.. the doctor claims that the actual number of confirmed cases of swine flu is 10 to 25 times worse than has been reported, and that people are not recovering easily, as has been claimed, but that many americans are in fact seriously ill.. the way they fudge on reporting this is that it takes 3 days to get the confirmatory nod from the cdc on a given viral culture, but based on epidemiological grounds, we know that there are more than 10 cases for each confirmed case right now, claims gitterle.. .
