I'm with you, Finally Free. Those things are dangerous! Don't we all remember those experiences about some poor sucker finding a tract or something and coming into the troof from it?? I find a shredder to be timeconsuming, but also cathartic when I'm having a down day :->

Name "UNWRITTEN" Rules That JWs Are Supposed To Follow
by minimus inas with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.
here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.
jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".

SeanGuy, why exactly are you here? I know, since I've been out less than a year, that when I was walking away, the counsel from the GB was very emphatic about avoiding apostates, especially online. I'm pretty damn sure if you were to contact the Society, they'd tell you this site is exactly the kind of thing they're talking about. If you haven't figured it out yet, we're not too fond of the GB and Dubs around here. Most of us are bruised, battered and will never recover from the damage done to us. So unless you are prepared to 1. ignore the counsel from the GB and the organization you seem to hold in such high regard and 2. shut your mouth and listen to what we've been through instead of prejudging and assuming you know better with all your YEARS of "faithful service", there really isn't any reason for you to linger.

he moved to plymouth nc in the early 70's while married to my young aunt linda.

Same shit, different day. And yet, we have Grissom's shining example of how things have really changed for the better in "Jehovah's organization." brunn

MAT. 24:14 FULLFILED - MIAMI ASSEMBLY
by pixel ini was talking this morning while i was preaching with this sister, and she asked me: do you know that the preaching work will be done soon?
i asked her: what do you mean?
she responded back: a sister (and i know her also) told me that her brother heard that the preaching is gonna be over because there are only two countries that jw can't go because it's too dangerous and yada yada yada.

Something definitely has them all atwitter - we had a phone call today from one of the elders in my old cong talking and talking blah blah blah (left a message - LOVE caller id) that "time was short" and blah blah blah. He even read a scripture - poor rank and filers! The GB must be feeling a money pinch and feels the need to scare the drones back into line. brunn

Ever hear an experience at an assembly that you KNOW was slanted?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini remember one at a district assembly.
a brother was being interviewed as to why he never chose over time work at his job.
he said he worked for a small printing company and that he was content with working regular hours.

Hmm, my dad was on stage at a C.A. because we had been "summer" pioneering together. This was before I was baptized and my "theocratic goal" was to become a missionary. *SNORT* As if there was ever a snowballs chance in hell of a single woman being allowed to attend Gilead or Bethel or ANYTHING. Upon further reflection, tho I supposed I should be grateful. I just remember listening to my dad talk and thinking I hardly even recognized myself in the "experience."

I don't know if this is any help, but wikipedia has this interesting little bit... Blood Main article: Jehovah's Witnesses and blood According to a peer-reviewed article published in 2005 in Journal of Church and State, Jehovah's Witnesses are allowed to accept blood provided it is in the form of blood fractions. Kerry Louderback-Wood, the author, alleges that labeling the currently acceptable blood fractions as "minute" in relation to whole blood causes followers to misunderstand the scope and extent of allowed fractions. She also claims that Witness publications misrepresent the medical risks of taking blood and the efficacy of non-blood medical therapies in critical situations.[91] Statistics have not been kept on deaths due to refusal of blood transfusions. However, a 2002 medical journal stated: "In the CEMD the very high risk of mortality in women who refuse blood transfusion was highlighted. The death rate in this group was 1 per 1,000 maternities compared with an expected incidence of less than 1 per 100, 000 maternities." [92] brunn

Remember what we used to say? All we do is plant the seeds, you never know who might read them! The more information we get out there, the more chance there is someone, like us, in pain, searching desperately trying to figure things out, might find it and escape!

I know last December we went on a "JW" cruise and there was an elder Bethelite along with three young Bethelites. We were told that he takes three every year as a special "treat." I remember thinking at the time, where on earth is he gonna come up with the money for himself, let alone three more to go on a cruise? Maybe this is the answer, or at least a little part of it...
