Policing the Flock: Does it vary from country to country?

so many stories ive read on jwn shows that the policing the flock is alive and well.

elders come after faders, especially if they are suspected of the dreaded a-word, the jw scarlet letter, a for apostasy.

if elders are gunning for a person, they will do whatever it takes.. .

Absolutely, without a doubt. Depends on the personalities of the elders. I knew an elder that was determined to catch a sister by constantly calling her, trying to visit, asking family about her. He was finally able to DF her when he found out she was pregnant and continued to ignore him.

Other elders in the same congregation were much more liberal/carring and didn't take much time to catch "wrongdoers". They moslt waited for you to come forward on your own after trying to contact you for awhile.

That other elder was a young self-righteous prick, imho. Also, I think he made it personal with her because she was interested him for some time but he would just play cat and mouse with her. I believe he is single to this day. Probably a supressed gay guy. Funny but sad.

I work in dependency courts and I am all for steralizing certain people. So many hurt/abuse their kids, lose them to the system and go off and make more babies just to end up right back here.

Education Double Standard

this is the kind of thing that really burns me.. .

wtbts holds out an extreme double standard in regards to education.

most, if not all, of you know how they feel about obtaining an education past high school (in the u.s.).

I agree with all your comments. The org is so fearful of their members learning to think outside the box and discouraging college is a way to prevent that. If I had HS to do over again I would pursue a career in music of some kind. They say it's never too late but priorities make things challenging.

Now I am looking forward to teaching my child (1st one the way ) to follow his dreams and think for himself.

Post 6: My brother turns on me now - Possible Legal advice

this is a letter i received today with my brother turning on me based on something that was told to him by my crazy mother.

he works for me, yet has not spoken a word to me in months because he is a self-righteous little dick.. .

what i would like to know from someone who knows the law, is it possible i can sue him if he pressures people to not work with me because of my religious beliefs????

Im so tired of these people, family or not, thinking they can just say whatever the hell they want to us. Why can't they just respect our decisions and keep their mouths shut! Sorry, my mom really hurt me today, unitentionally but it still hurt.

here are some sample expressions i found on-line.

my spouse is not abusive, mean, a bad person, an adulterer or any of those other labels.

my spouse refuses to grow up.

I guess I didn't answer the question. When I was younger (maybe two years ago ) I would say absolutely not.

But I'm working on being less judgemental these days. So I guess it all depends on the reasons for your unhappiness.

I cannot imagine how a "believer" and "non believer" make it work. I know some do. It seems like it would be a lonely life for both parties. I couldn't do it.

I have a JW niece who is married to a non-believer. He is easy going and pretty much let's my family keep his kids from holidays. My niece doesn't put up a fight about birthdays. But they don't seem all that happy. I feel bad for all of them.
