Various things can make a bigger impact in childhood--love of parent, concern
to master language, impression of movies....
I still favor the music analogy--faith like the subjective reaction beyond the
math of music. If it's done up nice (no clinkers, band members not hitting each
other over the head with trambones), you might (or might not) fall in love with
it at any age.
Circumcision to me is more certainly like some orthodox/conservative stances:
some people like the different feelings, but once you've taken them off there's
never any occasion to put them back on for anything imaginable.
