You're not going to find the GB's claim to authority in the gathering of
apostles for a discussion or that two had a disagreement so continued
separately. Since early Russell the claim of that strain of leaders that
they're of a literal 144,000 is meant as verified by the reasoning and evidence
for their dozen or so distinctive or distinctively taught rules (more recently
like extreme shunning and a ban of the medical use of blood and blood products).

if you're unaware of the letter tinged with anti-semitism and offering tacit approval that rutherford wrote to hitler, see this article on jwfacts.. so, we all know the witnesses were persecuted quite a bit during the war years.

i personally had family that was in jail with brother schroder in the 40's for the crime of "peddling.

i'm an agnostic fader, however i still think the mob violence against the witnesses was deplorable.

then things changed for the jws after rutherford mailed a letter to hitler bragging about jehovahs kingdom on earth.. so can we add this to the bloodshed that that the watchtower corp is responsible for?.

I made a timeline of Russell, Rutherford, etc., and secular leaders at the
next link. Rutherford was notorious for having JWs provoke for headlines for
his sales then, always, claim persecution.

Rutherford, failing to get special approval from Hitler, threatened to bring
him down (from his US home) by sending unarmed JWs through Germany to reveal
the truth about him. After that JWs started appearing in prison camps.

Hitler was an a-hole, but would anyone want Rutherford in charge of doing that
to them? Rutherford just stepped up his usual venom for any leaders--including
Allied leaders--as deserving to fall. The history of the JWs leaders' peddling
of antisemitism deserves attention, too.
