Criticism of the WTB&TS regarding child sex abuse stems from the fact they don't report it to authorities. Let the experts sort it out, not the elders.

Of Pedophelia and False Positives
by inkling inok, something has been bugging me recently, so please forgive meas i play devil's advocate for a moment.
child abuse of any type is horrific, and when it is sexual innature it can cause unimaginably cruel and life-long damage.i think we can all agree on that.
however, in the past irreparable damage to people's lives havealso been caused by accusations of child abuse that turnedout to be baseless... families are torn apart, trust is shredded, reputations ruined, all because a child misunderstood something, or fabricated a story to get attention, or was pressured by paranoid and possibly abused adults into remembering things that never happened.

That evil feeling of satisfaction.........................
by Warlock ini knew a brother who was an ms. his father was an elder in a neighboring congregation, a "rich" congregation.
his chest was always puffing out because of this.
of course, he would only engage in conversation with those who were also of "the privileged class".

Mary, you have a new fan. You have the most wicked sense of humor and sharp tongue. I just love your point of view. yet, when I express the same sentiments, I come off being mean. How do you do it?

OMG - I did it - I told my Mom and Dad how I feel...
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy mom and dad came round today and we ended up at the local mall with my hubby and kids having lunch.
after lunch my hubby went home with the kids and i stayed on with my folks to do some shopping.
as we were driving home, i pointed out my son's new school, and we were discussing the merits of private vs. public schools etc, and mom says "i just hope that by the time the kids get to highschool that the end has come, and you and the family are in the truth".. i mumbled something about having my doubts.

Every "Apostate" website that I know of has outside documentation. For instance, www.silentlambs.org has every news broadcast there is about the sex abuse issue. Here is a website that quotes the WTB&TS own words: www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk/ You say that you are not good at debate, but your parting shot was a good one! Congrats and good luck!

The Life Cereal thing must've been regional. I was talking to one of my disfellowshipped cousins last night, and she remembered the ban. We both grew up in Western Central Pennsylvania. Wizard, were you serious about calling Lucky Charms Fortunate Figures or was that a joke? You never know, because the wierdness that comes out of the JW's is profound. There are many things that have pagan origins: names of the days of the week and months of the year, use of lipstick, etc. I wonder how the WTB&TS justifies the use of those common items.

will i ever be able to move on (my daughter was abused)
by looloo ini feel real down at the moment at the injustice of it all , i know the world is full of injustice but it just makes me so mad , did anyone on here move on after their child was abused and if so how did you do it ?
i feel i cant move on till she has but at the moment that seems a long way off , bulimia and flashbacks seem to rule her life , the local congregation are not allowed to discuss it with me , even fellow victims mothers , probably because im worldly .
i have wrote a strongley worded letter to the elders regarding the fact that had they reported the local min servant perv to the police years ago my child would not be like this , and that i reported him to the police to protect other peoples children so why didnt they?

My experience as a disfellowshipped person for the past 20 years is that the JW parents will have hell to pay if the elders find out that they went to their df'd child's wedding for two reasons:1. the child is disfellowshipped and 2. the wedding is worldly. I've heard that in my old congregation a woman was advised against attending her son's wedding by the elders. He was never baptized and therefore not disfellowshipped. He also arranged it so his wedding wouldn't be held in a church or the ceremony performed by a minister. That still wasn't good enough. She was not to attend, because it was a worldly function.
My mother and all of our JW relatives did not attend a family reunion last fall, because I and some of my disfellowshipped cousins were there. It was a sure thing that none of the JW's in our family would be there, because my mother turned her JW sister in for having her disfellowshipped kids to the wake held at her house for a fleshly brother (who wasn't a JW). She got in BIG TROUBLE for that. If death doesn't transcend the bounds of the WTB&T's rigid rules, I don't see where a wedding would. It's a real shame, but that's how it is when your relatives remain Watchtower slaves.

Mary,
Thanks for the Watchtower study. It's stuff like this that makes me laugh through my tears. I miss my mom so much, but she's still a WT slave. She wouldn't even go to our last family reunion, because I and a few of my disfellowshipped cousins were there. How sad! She is the youngest of 11 children, and someone was at the reunion to represent each part of the family with the exception of one childless brother who was deceased and another brother who had just died (his wife and adult children were still in mourning). None of the JW's showed up. Keep those studies coming. It keeps my spirits up!
