Has Anyone Else Heard about the Second Letter Re KH Funds?
by jamiebowers indo you remember when someone posted that the society recently sent a letter to all of the kh's asking that they deposit their funds in the society's bank, so the society could earn interest on each congregation's principal?
i heard from a confidential source that a second letter was sent to the congregations who haven't yet done so, telling them that they are selfish and unwilling to help christ's brothers.
if this is correct, does anyone have a scan of the letter they could share on jwd?

Thanks, Ynot. Your link lead to info on the first letter. But I was wondering if anyone else has heard of a second letter going out. I'm also wondering why the Canadian jws haven't even heard of the first letter.

Who's your favorite Devil?
by Twitch ink, just for fun,.... i was watching the movie prophecy the other day and viggo mortenson's portrayal of lucifer was rather good imo.
i thought of another movie i saw, constantine where peter stormare played the same part, somewhat differently of course but a well done portrayal nonetheless.
so, who's your favorite devil?

Are active JW's seeing the light?
by boyzone ini ask this because i had a strange experience this week.
for a brief bit of background knowledge i'm being shunned like most on here, but i see witnesses every day in my place of work and at the school gate, there's no avoiding them, and like many of you, i've found it really hard to get over the hurt and heartache this has caused.. yesterday my mum (an active witness) went into hospital to have a tumor removed (successfully) as i'm the only daughter nearby to help, the other witnesses were asking the elders what they were supposed to do if they wanted to visit my mum and i was at her bedside, should they talk to me or turn round and go out again.. one elder said to do that would be utterly ridiculous, of course i should be spoken to.
he was very annoyed even at the suggestion.

One of my cousins is married to an elder, and he has consistently disagreed with elders from another congregation about the treatment of df'd people,. For years he has counseled his m-i-l (my aunt) to not be so rigid about her df'd kids when it came to family reunions, illness of either her kids or her and funerals. Unfortunately, the elders in my aunt's and mother's congregation disagree. My aunt got in big trouble a few years ago when she allowed her df'd kids to attend a wake at her house for a relative that never was a jw. The kicker was that it was my mom who turned my aunt into the elders for it. My aunt's husband, who wasn't a jw had died a few years before that, and there was no problem with her df'd kids attending their father's wake. The difference was that wake was held at a public place. Apparently, the stricter elders ruled that a jw could attend a family function with df'd people if it was held at a public place but that df'd people shouldn't be welcomed into a jw's home for such, even if they are family. Last fall we had a family reunion at a public place, but none of the jw's showed up, because I and some of my df'd cousins were there. I heard that my aunt wanted to come, but she was afraid of getting into trouble again.
I've had telephone conversations and email correspondence with a ms named Phil, who I met on Rick Fearon's conference calls. He assures me that he, and many like him who are elders and ms's don't believe in the more controversial aspects of the jw's and are only staying in to provide leadership to the rank and file when the gb finally turns tail and runs (with all of the money, of course). I really believe that he is sincere. I hope he is accurate. Rick Fearon refers to people like Phil as the "new breed of jw".

Hi I'm new here - a bit about me
by Fishbulb inwell where do i start?

Welcome. Please be assured that there is nothing wrong with you, being gay, voting, etc. The longer you're out, the more you will see it. What I find very ironic is that many people have been df'd even if they haven't committed what the WTB&TS considers sin. Remember that. You could've been straight as an arrow, so to speak, and still be df'd for simply thinking differently than the cult.

***** Name a reason people wont make it through Armegeddon *****
by FlyingHighNow inlet's start a list of reasons why you were told, or overheard people telling, won't make it through the big a day.
i'll start.. 1. they don't take showing up for cleaning the kingdom hall seriously and never show up.
i overheard a sour puss old elder say this to his wife after he just gave a scolding talk on it.

1. Reporting a jw pedophile to the police and fellow congregants.
2. Refusing to remain married to an abusive jw husband.

Bethelite auto mechanics????
by asilentone inwhere do bethel workers get their cars fixed?
do the bethelite mechanics fix it for free?
just wondering.

My dear current husband used to be a full time auto mechanic, but had to give it up due to arthritis in his hands. Anyway, I have learned that people in general revere a good mechanic who is also honest. Even after he closed his shop and got a different job, his regular customers came to our house at his convenience to have their cars worked on. Depending on his regular work schedule, some customers waited up to 3 weeks for him. As a jw, I attended two different congregations, each in different states, and the mechanics were really looked up to. Think about it, nowadays, most mechanics are so high priced that it's actually cheaper to lease a car and turn it in every 2 or 3 years to avoid car break downs. I drive a 1996 mini van that I LOVE, and it is in tip top shape with my husband spending several hours on maintenance and repairs. I'm lucky though, because he lets me take it out in trade (ha, ha).
