Reverse shunning at the restuarant!
by Thechickennest inyesterday, after taking part in a community service project with the lion's club my wife and i went to one of the three restaurants in our small town to meet with the other lion's club members.
would'nt you know it.... there were three witnesses from the congregation we used to attend, kind of hidden around a corner behind a wall having their mid saturday morning break.
we choose our seats in the booth connected to the witnesses booth, as the other lion's members were already seated in this area.

What a great experience. I don't know any jws where I live now, but according to one of my "worldly" aunts, my mom keeps saying that I'll come back to the "truth" someday. And my aunt says, "Well, it will never happen. She is so happy now." I think my dear aunt makes it a point to let my mom know about the highlights in my life. I just love her!

Did Anyone Watch Swingtown on Thursday Night?
by jamiebowers init was the pilot episode.
i was a little disappointed that there wasn't more of a seduction of the new swingers.
all it took was a few recreational drugs.

My dear husband said if he could grow his own breasts,he'd be so busy that he could never leave the house.
It's not really that great......
Are you speaking from personal experience?

Not Born-in, Not converted as adult. The In-Betweens
by Lady Lee ini think some of us get lost somewhere in the middle.. my kids knew nothing else but the jw lifestyle.
they could only guess what holidays were like.. my jw husband converted when he was 20 an adult...a young adult but still an adult.
he wasn't influenced by his parents.

It was horrifying. I was 11 or 12 when my mom started studying. She had just remarried too, so there was a nasty stepfather to get used to as well. My brother went with her to the meetings, and after she left him, her husband started studying too. By the time I was 13, they told me that "the only reason that Satan was in their house was because of me". So I left home for a few years, returned, battered and bruised by the world, and signed up for their craziness.

I was uncomfortable with the separate story line with the teens -- don't know where they are going with that. It didn't seem to mesh with the adult story.
I think the story line for each of the family members was about being cut off from their past friends in their old neighborhood. The mother and father becoming swingers alienated them from the couple who were their best friends, the daughter lost interest in her stoner boyfriend, and the young son can no longer be friends with his old best friend, due to the best friend's humiliation at being beat up by the girl he was lying about.
I think it will be worth watching at least a few more episodes of this show to see where it's going. The subject matter of swinging is very interesting to me, because parents of some friends of mine while growing up were swingers. I remember being so shocked when I heard about it as a kid. It's not for me and my husband, but to each his own, I guess.
