SBF, I read that too. Are you sure it was someone from Anonymous who wrote that? Anyone can post there...even I did.

Do you agree with William Bowen's statement about the issue of Anonymous hacking?
by Iamallcool inthe jw pedophile database would be an amazing thing to have, but to obtain it illegally would prevent it ever from being used as evidence and would hurt the case of many abuse survivors.

11-year-old niece was told by JW grandmother that she shouldn't play in band
by keyser soze ini haven't posted here in a while, but i thought this was worth mentioning, and i just wanted to vent about it.. my brother and sister-in-law, who are now divorced, bought my niece a clarinet about a year ago, so she could play in the band at school.
she loves it more than anything in the world.
one day last week, her grandmother found out about this and got all upset about it.

Many of us are here because we used to be JW's. But how easy it is now to forget that we were slaves to the WT too at one time.
So don't blame the grandmother. She may care a lot for the girl. However, the WT religion has filled her with all this nonsense and she is passing it on,
just as many of US may have done in the past.
Don't judge the Witness, one day she may even break free. Judge the religion and its leaders ONLY, IMHO.
Shepherd, I blame the grandmother, because she overstepped her bounds and failed to observe her own jw rules. Parents are to be in charge of their children, so if she had a problem with her grandchild participating in a school band, she should've talked to her own daughter, the mother of the child. Instead, she chose to bully a little girl. Even if she wasn't a jw, that would've been the wrong thing to do.
I've encouraged him to fight for joint custody, at the very least. But he's trying to keep things as amicable as possible. He's also not in a great position
financially, which is why he's staying with me.
And while he has serious issues with the elders, and no longer attends meetings, he is far more sympathetic to the WT than I am. But I'm working on
him...
What a sad state of affairs....I certainly don't envy you! It's difficult enough to help a Watch Tower sympathizer to learn the truth about the "truth", but it must be far more frustrating when a kid is involved. There are so many ex and exiting jws who feel unworthy to raise their own children. This cult just boils my blood!

My fear is that the elders will find out and try to guilt her mom into forcing her to quit. They don't have any hold over my brother. He lives with me, and doesn't attend meetings anymore. But my ex-sister-in-law wants badly to be reinstated. She's a very co-dependent person, and misses her family and friends.
Keyser, that's why, if he doesn't already have it, your brother needs to go back to court for decision making rights regarding educational and medical dissues for his daughter. In the meantime, grandma should be told to butt out, and if she doesn't, the custody agreement can be modified to forbid all contact with the old bitch.

A thread for those who have no support system or a place to go due to shunning.
by ohiocowboy inreading the recent thread about the young lady who just ended her life got me thinking that maybe there could be a thread that is easily accessible to anyone who may need help due to homelessness from losing their families and friends to shunning.
too often i hear stories about people who have lost everything, and have no where to go, and at the same time having no type of support system.
unfortunately there are some who are so lost that they feel that there are no options besides taking their own life.. i think that a website that matches people in need to others who can help in some way would be a great idea.

What did you eat when you moved out if you didn't know how to cook?
by Aware! ini'm male, in my early twenties, and i don't know how to cook.
if one day i blow my cover i will have to move out and fend for myself.
my question is what frozen meals or quick fix meals do you recommend for a single guy?

All good advice, but if you're going to bake or grill meat, please buy a meat thermometer and look up the temperatures on line. You might also consider purchasing a small crock pot. They're wonderful for cheap cuts of beef roast, and you can throw in some carrots and potatoes. It can cook during the day, and your feast will be ready when you get home. To make chili in the crock pot, use tomato soup or spaghetti sauce. Add the canned kidney beans, and let it simmer on low all day. Fry and drain the hamburger and add it to the mixture in the crock pot when you get home. Corn bread is easy to make if you get the Jiffy brand in a box.
Boiling boneless, skinless chicken breast and adding a can of cream of chicken soup after the chicken is tender makes great creamed chicken. You can buy the biscuits in a can or boil some egg noodles to go with it. Baking pork chops with cream of mushroom soup is good too.
You probably don't have a lot of storage bowls, so freezer bags will be your best friend in the kitchen. You can use them to repackage large packages of meat you find on sale as well as to store leftovers.
Making a turkey or pork roast isn't difficult, and you can store individual servings in freezer bags to eat as a meat for dinner or to make sandwiches and salads with, (which is a lot healtheir than deli meat).
Depending upon what kind of kitchen set up you have, you'll need to invest in a few pots and pans. If you have no oven and have a fondness for large meats and poultries, you may want to invest in a roaster. My husband just bought me one a few months ago for $29. I can make a 22-lb turkey or a whole pork roast in it.
Go to the dollar store and get your spices...cheap, cheap, cheap! Onion soup mix is great with ground beef. They also have steak and chicken seasonings.
You can even make desserts without a mixer or oven. Google the recipe for No Bake Cookies. Pudding can be cooked in a small sauce pan or shaken in a closed containter and then chilled, (just make sure to note whether the box says cook and serve or instant).

There was a guy right here in my little town who fell for the re-shipping scheme. If I remember correctly, items were shipped to his address, and then he would re-ship them elsewhere. As it turned out, the items were ordered with stolen credit information. Although the police knew he was duped, he was still arrested. There was nothing else in the news about it, so I don't know what happened to the poor guy.

I'm really surprised that the convention site would allow rides for kids due to insurance concerns. I'm not surprised, though, that the Spanish speaking jws would do something like that. The few who I knew were much friendlier and more family oriented than English speaking jws.

It's the title of his new book. I was chatting with him on Facebook the other day. I'll zip over there now and message him about using Google Chrome.
Edited to add: Got him on Facebook, and he said he'll be back once he can get on Google Chrome.

Hare Krishnas? I Know This Site Is For JW But . . .
by InterestedOne ini have learned a lot about cults on this site and cannot thank you all enough for helping me get a sense of what is going on with my jw acquaintance.
as it turns out, another friend of mine told me she goes to the hare krishna temple.
she is a wonderful person, and we have been spending time together having long conversations.

She said a pedo coverup would not necessarily stop someone from wanting to go to Penn State or play football there.
WOW, what a poor comparison. Attending Penn State as a student or even as a football player doesn't put you under the influence of child molesters or people who covered up for them. If the stories in the press are to be believed, all of the bad guys are gone. And usually college classes encourage students to develop critical thinking skills. The same can't be said for Hare Krishnas.
