I look for substance more than style, and I enjoy watching most of them. In so doing, there have been a few YouTubers who I've invited onto JWD who weren't already here, and they've joined. What they do is valuable, because it's easier for a trapped jw to wander onto a YouTube video than it is for them to read site like this. These videos also serve as a warning to "worldly" people who may fall victim to the cult. Speaking of which, there is nothing wrong with playing up the cult aspect, because that is what the WTB&TS truly is; a corporate cult masquerading as a religious organization.

I know what you mean. 14 years ago I took a round trp flight from Cleveland to Savannah. Unless my brother is living cross country and needs a kidney, it will never happen again.

From Know It All Religon to a simple Know It All?
by AllTimeJeff ini was just curious for those of you who have left for at least a little time if you look back on yourself when you first left the borg and had this happen; because you were suddenly free to think, you thought you were right about most things soon after you left........ my jw experience groomed in me a disposition that i was always right.
that personality trait didn't leave just because i left jw's.
i realized one day last year that i thought in much the same ways i did as a jw, that is, i never questioned my own assumptions.. we were told that jw's were "the most educated people on earth".

I never was a know it all, pre-jw, as a jw & post-jw. Pre- jw, I had a high school friend who was a real genius who argued quite successfully against much of the WTB&TS doctrine while I was jw. Getting out of the cult was so devastating that I doubted my intellect & judgment for many years.

Unrealized hopes and dreams - crappy reality of life
by tartarus ini am thankful to jehovah's witnesses who taught me the bible.
i still believe it is the word of god.
i have studied other spiritual traditions and have compared different teachings and haven't found one that gives such a positive outlook on the future.

I read your first post here and your biography--WOW, what an interesting life so far! Living in the Soviet Union, Israel and now Canada, you are at least bilingual. How many languages do you speak? And you've enrolled in a college course. Good for you. An education will open up your world even more. You are young and have a chance to explore careers, education and your own personal philosophies. If you haven't already, please get help for your depression. You have nothing to fear here and will never be condemned for your thoughts or sexual orientation as you experienced as a jw. Keep posting, and let everyone know how you're doing. Welcome!
