Any suggestions for legitimate work at home jobs?
by coffee_black inmy daughter may need this.
since she has heart failure, she may not be able to go back to work, because her dr. has placed her on a 5 lb lifting restriction.
her company has held her job open for her since the end of november, but will not agree this restriction.. she has applied for disability, but since her dr would allow her to work at all (dispite strict restrictions) she has been told that they will not likely approve her.... so she is caught between a rock and a hard place.

Like say, if Mrs. sd-7 were to discover my identity and read all of my posts, that would suck. I would expect to be set on fire shortly thereafter.
SD-7, I couldn't let that go without an LOL!

My Uncle is Dying.
by LouBelle innearly a year ago my uncle was diagnosed with prostate cancer - he initially thought it was just a bladder infection and it took him passing out to go have more serious tests.
thus he received this news and shared it with us, his family.. the family rallied behind him and we all did everything we could to get him to his treatments, make sure he ate properly and supported him.
my cousins came out from the uk when it looked like he was going to die in a couple of days.

How far will you let people go?
by Lozhasleft inreading the thread about people self destructing on here combined with some experiences of my own has set me thinking.. i seem to have developed an intolerance to any kind of abusive behaviour.
of course none of us should tolerate serious abuse, i do realise that.
but whereas in the past and particularly whilst a jw i learnt to turn the other cheek or ignore as best i could any insults/sniping/snide comments from whoever fired them at me....now i simply cant.. its as if i have 'found' that i am worth more...that its totally unacceptable, and i wont allow it.

In my training, I notice that people who are tired of being taken for granted and used are very motivated to learn how to say, "No more!" as loud and clear as possible, For a while they perhaps overdo the self-assertion skills but it is all part of practising new behaviors and getting use to the sound of have a more self-assertive voice. After a period of time, they settled down a bit and are better able to sit comfortably with a wide range of responses to other people's behavior. Not every "No" needs to be absolutely firm and not everyone who tries to get us to do something we don't want to do needs to be given a scalding.
My thoughts exactly, Steve2. I was hell on wheels when I first got out of the cult and still can be if under tremendous pressure. But the pendulum is pretty much in the middle now.

i have finally decided to "give up " on jw family !
by looloo inmy inlaws have now not visited my child of 7 for more than 2 years since we moved a half hour drive away as i didnt want to live in the same town as my other childs abuser (an ex min servant ) after he was released from prison !
they only visited once and i made it clear that they were welcome anytime as they left , since then they havnt bothered but have told people that i dont allow them to see my child , which is not true .
my mother in law tried to give some money to my child recently through her disfellowshipped son but he asked "why ?

Loo & Grew, so sorry for your pain. Your relatives are probably not bad people, but brainwashing makes them do very bad things. It wouldn't be any different if they were violent alcoholics or theiving drug addicts. It's better to be away from them.
Edited to add: Loo, especially in your case where a child is involved, at least there are no jw grandparents to freak your kid out about Armageddon or Jehovah's anger over the celebration of birthdays and holidays.
