"Cult vs cult" was the first thing I thought of when I read this article on Google News. I had this mental image in my head of those smack-down wrestling cartoons, LOL!

Cult vs. Cult - KH In Senegal Burned
by stealyourface inmuslim youth in senegal, africa, encouraged to march in protest against what they considered as "acts of aggression against their faith", burn a kh in the senegalese capital.
the kh was targeted because of jw proselytizing, literature distribution and "handing out crosses".. http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/06/senegal-imam-making-excuses-for-rampage-against-jehovahs-witnesses-kingdom-hall-caught-in-a-lie.html link contains citations.

The WTS, homosexuality, and the tax code
by sir82 inhow about that for a discombobulated thread topic?.
i think we are in the midst of a new civil rights revolution - this time the oppressed who are overcoming prejudice are homosexuals.
now new york has legalized gay marriage.

Since the government didn't strip the Watchtower of its tax exempt status over the clearly obvious cover-ups of child molestation, I seriously doubt it would do so over discrimination against homosexuals. Very sad, but true. I truly believe that the Watchtower will bring about its own undoing. As society becomes more enlightened, jws will become more and more of a fringe group. There will probably always be some nutcases like my mom hanging onto the organization for dear life, but most people with common sense and internet access will avoid the cult like the plague. Even the majority of born ins are leaving.

So where are you now?
by fade_away inare any of you on here not living the dreams you had as a kid because of the "no higher education" rule?.
i was a born in jw and remained one until the age of 25. by my late teens i knew what i wanted to do with my life.
i'm about to write a lengthy history explaining why i'm not currently in the carreer i wanted, so you can skip this boring story and just comment if you want to.. i was raised to be a loyal jw and since birth already had many goals chosen for me.

You can put your college debt on hold if you go back to school. And at 25, your parents' income won't be considered, and you may be eligible for financial aid. I don't know much about computer graphic design, but it seems probable that you can gain skill in animation and other areas. That way you can support yourself with practical applications while attempting to break into the entertainment industry.

untitled
by outsmartthesystem inat this point, the consensus opinion (and i agree) is to not release my 200 page letter to my wife and overwhelm (damn.
that's a lot of man hours wasted dividing into categories and subdividing into actual handy little chapters).
many of you suggested talking calmly (perhaps revealing one topic at a time....slowly....leaving lots of time to discuss/reflect/investigate).

Your wife sounds a lot like me when I was a jw. No matter how many times I was confronted with common sense reasons why the Watchtower didn't have the truth, even if I was suffering because of it, I couldn't break free of the cult mind control. I'm afraid you're going to have to wait until your wife is faced with something terrible happening to her or someone she loves very much and seeing that the Watchtower doesn't have the answers.
I was only a baptized jw for about seven years and was married to a dangerously abusive jw husband for almost the same amount of time, (got married a week after baptism). Although I lived in terror of beng murdered, I couldn't leave him or the cult. One day when one of my "worldly" co-workers overheard him threatening to kill me, she told our supervisor, and all hell broke loose. The boss got me an attorney who got a hearing with a judge who interviewed my husband's psychiatrist who acknowledged that, yes, he really was crazy enough to kill me. He was forcibly commited to a mental facility. It was only when I saw how concerned all of these "worldly" people were about me is when I realized there was something wrong with the organization.
