Can't honestly remember reading that one... but I'm guessing like most older publications, it was filled with "Leave it to Beaver" type real world situations that were a product of it's time.

OTWO, honestly you've done SO much more than the average person would do. You've gone above and beyond. While that is extremely sad, and I agree, no one should be able to hold the position of elder and act in that manner, it's not what is best for YOU. Obviously, you are already stressed enough about the situation. I just think it's going to suck you in to a situation that you don't at all want. Unless you TRULY think that pursuing him is going to help, I would avoid getting any more involved. You are beyond the point of providing a remedy for the situation.
yep my fade has come to a stop, got the phone call off my dad today he asked me if i celebrate christmas and birthdays and i said yes, and so he said they are going to go ahead with the disassociation letter i sent over two years ago!!!!..
he said that after today the only phone calls i will get are if there is an emergency, but nothing social my response to that was well you havnt seen or spoken to me for over a year im used to it.. he also said there was no bad feelings and that i should never doubt there love for me, and that the stupid thing of it is they can associate with mike and the kids just not me.. im really happy and calm about it, ive had my initial cry over it, and now i feel good that i dont have to lie and hide things anymore.. its such a relief.. luv ya all.

This seems to be a pretty common occurence with friends I grew up with. My experience differs from a lot. My dad is an elder and my immediate family are regular. I was DF'd, reinstated, I have been inactive for about 7 years. My relationship is still great with my family even though they know I do not follow the guidelines any longer. My "wordly" fiancee is welcome in their house and we stay over quite often when visiting (in different rooms). Maybe they are more progressive witnesses? I guess I don't know, but I have noticed that stances on certain things depend on the JW. Who knows, if the rest of the congregation knew of the way they treated me, maybe they would be ridculed.
So anyway, my heart goes out to you and anyone who is "shunned" by their family. Unless you don't like them of course, then I guess it's a blessing :)

i have been hanging on the couch all day, watching friends.
i have to say that even when i saw the series like a dozen of times, it still makes me laugh out loud.. my excuse btw is that my throat hurts, i sneeze all the time, have a ringing in my ear and some times - the room actually spins.. what have you been doing your sunday?.

I have been watching all the old NFL Films Superbowl recaps. I've been inactive for about 7 years and my fiancee was not "raised" in the Truth, so I don't need to make excuses anymore. Maybe I'm lazy, but enjoying a Starbucks and American football on a Sunday morning is just about perfect :)
