my cousin and his family are visiting me from edmonton.
they just informed me that when jws call on them they tell them they have a cousin who used to be on and left when he found out it wasn't the truth.
they said it works every time.
me too! my hubby said one called today. all he had to do to make em go away was say his wife used to be a witness :D
personally, i'm feeling better about things.
i don't cringe when i see a witness now.
i may still try to avoid contact with certain ones but now i feel more than ever before that jws are crackpots and whether they look down on me or not, they are the ones with the issues----not me!
Hmm - think that still too soon for me. I don't get suicidal anymore and i have a husband who loves me so much. he tells me everyday. i feel so much happier in myself. i don't think of myself as a bad person as much anymore,
i still get very sad about my friends and family who knew that i'd been abused and stumbled and who still dont talk to me (im not df'd) - not one person rang to give comfort and encouragement when my nan died in mar 2005, except my lovely mom of course.
i miss my friends, i find it so hard to make new ones.
i feel i'm on the road to recovery though. the glass is half full, i'm slowly making new friends.
i don't want a huge chip on my shoulder about the dubs but i've got one and i'd like to get rid of it.

i know we were sold a lie in believing god was only dealing with the wt and to obey them is to obey god.
what puzzels me is that in rejecting the wt so many also reject their belief in god.
surely they believed that god existed as witnesses.
I can't decide - the thought of god is so ingrained in me and as has already been noted the fact that all other religions are bad and don't serve god is also ingrained.
I haven't looked into either creation or science theory enough to make a truly informed decision but my thoughts are:
If there is a god why all the suffering - i dont care about the 1000 years to god is but a day stuff because the idea is also that he made us, knows what we're like so if he's around then he surely knows that to us 1000yrs is a 1000yrs and all the suffering we feel is felt stongly
If each religion claims to follow god and the bible is truly inspired why dont they all believe the same thing?
What kind of god lets a young child be abused and sits back saying don't worry you'll forget it all in paradise. or lets wars happen or lets people murder other people in his name or just palin murder each other and beat each other up?
But then there's the part of me which is obviously in lots of people that thinks there may be someone who can help.
i figure that the person who can help me the most is me.
i try to attend some sunday meetings just to keep peace in my family .but,it is almost unbearable to listen to these public talks.yesterday,the talk was about adam and eve and how they ate the forbidden fruit.how they sinned and now we are all sinners.how they were thrown out of paradise .how the angels came down and had relations with females.that jesus died for our sins.
only jehovah's witnesses who are faithful to the end will inherit paradise earth.the earth will be here to time indefinite.the survivors will never die after the 1000 year reign is over.. how many times have we heard this talk?
how many more times can they pound these talks into everyone's brain?
Reminds me of when i used to go to meetings and sit there watching everyone nodding like those little dogs in the back of cars and thinking - are you all stupid or am i mad?
my parents divorced when i was 12. their divorce was so messy and upsetting that it threw my mother for a loop that none of the elders came to her aide.
she has been distant and negetive towards jw's for almost ten years since.
my father was re-instated after an almost 20 year apsence and is now happily attending meetings with his new family.
Hmmm, at the end of the day you do have to do what your heart and mind both tell you to do. But I think that you should look at things from all angles before committing yourself because you will be warned to stop and only look at the W/T side of things when you get going.
If you do start studying/attending meetings and it makes you happy then that is ok but please be aware that all the initial support does not continue and you can end up very much on your own because everyone is so busy looking for their own salvation that they will ignore yours when they deem you fit to look after yourself.
recently i realised how advantageous it is to use rechargable batteries.
a pair of duracell batteries for example aa size, capacity 2,500 mah, costs only 3 which is around $5.5, (the corresponding disposable ones cost 1) and can be recharged hundreds of times with a recharger that costs 15 and in fact works with all standard sizes (aaa, aa, c, d, and the square shaped ones).
this not only saves money but if done by many people it is really good for the environment because there will be that much less used batteries to pollute it.
Yeah I like em too but hubby likes to throw away so I use rechargable and he doesn't!
