What do elders talk about behind closed doors?
by JH injust about every time i went to the kingdom hall, i used to see a few elders gather in the 2nd school and close the door and stay there maybe 10 or 15 minutes.
oh, what they were doing seemed so important... .
what the heck do they talk about behind these closed doors?.

Is the "Kingdom" a "government"?
by Doug Mason inmy understanding is that the wts says the "kingdom of god/heavens" is a "government".
where do they get that idea from in scripture?
i presume that by "government" they mean "a system of exercising authority through an executive policy making body".

Yes you're right the dubs believe in "Theocracy" which is rule by God - part of their argument for not voting - they vote for God and not any political party and as God isn't on the boxes to tick...(that's how it was explained to me anyhow)
But really they mean rule by the borg when they say theocracy as it relates to your everyday life in the cong

Went to a Wesleyan fellowship breakfast
by Undecided ini kind of enjoyed going and having breakfast with the group of men.
each one told his story of who he was and his religious feelings.
no one questioned my jw background after i told them of my history and that i was looking for the "truth" again.

WT BLOOD GUILT EXPOSED TO THE WORLD
by DannyHaszard inparents don't get a moral pass.
toronto star, canada - 3. even the discovery that their parents were devout jehovah's witnesses and is there any other kind of watchtower congregant?

I'm a bit puzzled by this story ,here we have JW's having invitro fertilization because they love to have babies ,and say they love the babies ,and yet are willing to let them die after so much trouble giving them life.!
And then I recall that the parents donated eggs and sperm and some of these fertilized eggs are frozen for future injection later if the first fertilized eggs fail. But on having multiple births they can then say we don't want anymore children ....so.....what then happens to the remainining fertilized eggs left over? ...they say the fertilized eggs are potetial human beings so they cannot kill the eggs off but they can let the preemie foetuses die from lack of blood.
I always thought true JW's could not invitro because of the dilemna of possibly having to kill the unwanted fertilized eggs ,or that they may be used in another womans womb?
Is anyone else on my wavelength here?
I'm with u wazzadummy - IVF that way = abortion!
As far as im aware - another person having the eggs would be adultery?

Just got the weirdest "Clippy" message from Microsoft Word!
by AlmostAtheist ini was typing up a post and trying to sound sort of like a watchtower writer, intending to mock them.
i guess microsoft must be in bed with the watchtower or something, 'cause this message popped up: .

What will it take for me to stop this?
by sibboleth ini have lurked for over a year.
i keep coming back here - everytime i do - it's like witnessing a car wreck.
the things i don't want to read or believe are right here before my eyes - it's like a drug.
-
mia_b
i'm a complete newbie so can't offer any advice - i didn't even lurk lol just dove right in hehe. i too find it very hard to live my life looking forward rather than behind in anger at what was taken from me.
it's nice to come and read and post and know that others feel the same way, it was an eyeopener

Anyone here, have you had enough religion for the rest of your life?
by restrangled inthats how i feel,..... no disrespect for those who find another way or place to worship.
i for one cannot stand any religion on any level.
how do you feel?.
-
mia_b
I wouldn't say for the rest of my life but for the moment yes.
I'm just coming to terms with the fact that i hav been a victim of mind control - from my father (you're stupid, you'll never amount to anything, what happened to our relationship, you used to love me, giv me a kiss) and the Borg (you must live your life like we tell you then you'll be happy - no u cant be suicidal, u obiously dont pray enough)
At the moment i'm quite vulnerable and wouldn't want to be swept away by anything else before i know who me is, what my mind is.
the board is becoming my new religion for the mo!

Gays Not OK Pedos OK - WTF???
by hamsterbait init has just occurred to me that a gay man is very unlikely to be appointed to anything above holding the lollipops in front of peoples' mouths at the meetings.
even tho he gave up the gay lifestyle to be a miserable borger.. yet pedos are being appointed, and the wtbcs chooses not to know about their past.. why is this?.
is a gay more obvious?.
-
mia_b
yeah weird isn't? Never really thought about it. but the borg is totally up itself. nothing makes sense.
