THE IMPORTANCE OF HOLDING HANDS!
by Dansk ini started a thread a long hug http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/128891/1.ashx which touches on the below, but feel this subject deserves a thread of its own.. a study, highlighted on bbc breakfast news yesterday, acknowledged the importance of holding hands in a relationship, courting or married.
it was stated that couples who hold hands in the street are more likely to have a solid relationship - and especially those who interlink their fingers when holding hands as this indicates a desire to be as close to each other as possible.
arm linking is ok, too, but couples who just walk about not holding hands - and this includes married couples - indicates the relationship could be in trouble.. do you hold hands with your spouse/partner?

Growing up a gay Jehovah's Witness (My Life Story)

One of my best friends in the troof is gay. it's so sad - i haven't seen him for 3 years. he's trying within the borg and managed to not get df'd when his guilt over a realationship with another bro bought them both to confess their "sins" to the borg. we went on holiday together after his split and we spent the whole hol talking about the people we wanted to be with. we sure opened the eyes of the other bro with us!
who btw was WARNED against associating with me "because of what happened between her and her father may have effected her spirituality" he wasn't even in my cong - i never knew the elder and so had to tell about the abuse to someone i didn't really know! so much for confidentiality.
mind you i never got in trouble for going on hol with 2 bros. i think they'd given up on me by that point.
i hope my friend ends up as happy as you one day. maybe i ought to send a link to this post... the borg is so cruel heaping on that guilt to something entirely natural i know what you mean by not being sure about the past - if it didn't happen we wouldn't be us. i might even still be in the borg SHUDDER

Should I wait to be questioned by the elders? or take my leave in advance?
by Thinking of Leaving inhi everyone, i recently joined this forum as i'm close to being df.
i am suppose to meet with a judical committee soon but was thinking that i don't want to go through those personal questions that i'm sure the elders would ask.
does anyone know, is it better to just tell the elders before, say like on the phone, that i want to be df and not go through the committee?

Would Blondie or Mary ever make it as Elders in your old Congregation?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwe know the wts will never except woman as elders.in the last year as a member of jwd,i have learned more from blondie and mary than any elder in my congregation.all the elders in my congregation look like they go thru the motions.they are more like policy enforcers than teachers.. do you think that by excepting woman, some men would be embarassed to how little they know?
does the wts know some woman would better teachers?
is it more like a men's club?

Why Is Everything Always Wrong To A Jehovah's Witness???
by minimus innothing is ok. everything is problematic..... what if you stumble someone???--------.
let's say you want to invite someone over, you gotta worry about someone thinking your favoring this one over another.
you might be accused of having "cliques".

Be careful if you have people over and you're watching tv, make sure no woman in a bathing suit comes on.
Do you quickly get up and change the channel or let it be?
What will they think of you and your family?
and it made me laugh cos i remember when i was little and anything my mom thought we shouldnt see came on she used to stand in front of the tv with her skirt held out so we couldn't see the screen. it was humerous even then, we used to try and get to see it and she'd stay even longer and do a silly dance or whatever in front of the tv while the rest of the family screamed at ther to move and missing even more of what we were watching. she's cool even if a little mad (ALOT of the maddness got passed to me ).

Revived beast sick of Unipolar Babylon the Great
by proplog2 intoday putin accused the united states of making the world a more dangerous place by pursuing policies aimed at making it "one single master".
attacking the concept of a "unipolar" world in which the united states was the sole superpower, he said: "what is a unipolar world?
no matter how we beautify this term it means one single centre of power, one single centre of force and one single master.".

In connection with this the role of multilateral
diplomacy is significantly increasing. The need
for principles such as openness, transparency and
predictability in politics is uncontested and the use of force should be a really exceptional
measure, comparable to using the death penalty in
the judicial systems of certain states.
However, today we are witnessing the opposite
tendency, namely a situation in which countries
that forbid the death penalty even for murderers
and other, dangerous criminals are airily
participating in military operations that are
difficult to consider legitimate. And as a matter
of fact, these conflicts are killing people
hundreds and thousands of civilians!I like that quote proplog - especially as uk is non death penalty but quite happy in iraq and afghanistan

Establishing a household budget....anyone good at it?
by onlycurious inwe are going to be building our first home this fall or next spring.
kind of depends on the finances because all the prep work with the septic, utilities and retaining walls has really put a dent in our savings.. in the meantime, i did a little quick analysis on our spending habits and found that we spend on average about $1000.00 on food a month for a family of 6. one of them is a baby.. so, we need to bite the bullet and draw up a budget because this is ridiculous!.
so, can anyone offer advice on the simplest way to do this?

We write a shopping list of what we need and stick to it. No use buying stuff just cos it's on offer if you don't usually have it! A sis in my old cong with 5 kids used to do bulk buys once a month and then perishables once a week.
And the thing that saved the most money? Cutting down on alcohol :(
